I went to the opening showing of Toy Story 3 yesterday. I went with complete trust in Pixar for several reasons. One being that they have never let me down yet, and the other being the fact that I spoke with one of the art directors who reassured me that the movie was funny, epic, emotional, and a perfect ending to the story that we love.
This being said I just had a few thoughts on the movie. I loved it so very much. I loved everything from beginning to end, from the art to the music. Everything was beautiful and the story was flawless.
Opening scene: I was so excited when the movie started with some of the first lines from the first movie. It brought back many of my own childhood memories of watching the movie. I was filled with a love of the previous two movies that were such exciting adventures as a child.
From there the movie jumped to the "present" and for the generation who group up with Toy Story playing with Buzz and Woody, seeing the movies and being terrified that Woody wouldn't make it back to Andy and remembering all the toys that we had lost, it literally was the present. That generation that started with Toy Story is now going to college themselves! Its a wonderful way to view the movie, going to college the same time that Andy is and going through the same sort of room cleaning that he is. Watching the movie I literally had to let go the same that Andy does at the end of the movie. I'm going from stability and pradictability in my life and moving on. I can still enjoy and love those childhood experiences, but I have a lot more to do in my life. TS3 let me see that point of moving on from a removed perspective.
The characters were just as lovable and genuine as in all the other Toy Story. The art was gorgeous and the ending was perfect. I don't want to say much more, lest I spoil it for others. I really just wanted to share how I felt about moving on in my life with Andy and the gang. ^_^ Everyone go see Toy Story 3 it is fabulous!!
