Back in September of 2015, I wrote an article about my favorite Pokemon. Now, I've decided to do the opposite and talk about my least favorites.
The Pokemon themselves are a big part of why I love the franchise so much, but that doesn't mean there weren't any stinkers over the years.
While there are allot of Pokemon that I like/love, but having 721 Pokemon (It will be over 800 when Sun and Moon is out.), there are Pokemon that I found outdated, worthless, boring, stupid or annoying.
Let's get some things out of the way first.
If there's a Pokemon that I put on this list that you like, don't worry. Just because you have different opinions doesn't mean I won't respect your opinion or you as a person. Not to mention, some of the Pokemon on this list are either important to the lore or have something about them that I'm sure people would find charming and interesting.
Because there are so many Pokemon, I had to choose which ones I dislike the most, while at the same time not try to be cynical or lazy about it. So, I'm sorry if the article's kind of messy, but I had a lot on my mind.
Without any further a due, let's begin:

10.Lopunny.
I think I need to share a secret first. I really like humanoid/anthropomorphic looking Pokemon. I don't like all of them, but a good chunk of them. The reason why I like them so much is because they remind me a lot of superheroes/villains. I'm a big fan of comic book characters and stories, and these humanoid looking creatures who posses amazing superpowers and feats give off a superhero feeling and I really like that. However, like I said, I don't like all anthropomorphized Pokemon, and Lopunny is one of them.

When I first looked at Lopunny when it was first revealed, I thought it was okay. But nowadays, Lopunny just reminds me of a Playboy Bunny. Lopunny is not the only Pokemon with humanoid and sexualized features, but this Pokemon, which is based on a rabbit, has what I thought were such overtly sexualized features that just simultaneously creeps me out and ticks me off. Something about the shape of it's lower body, coupled with the way its arms are tucked into its upper body hiding its chest, just looks a but too much like a sexualized female body for me to be comfortable with.

Now keep in mind, in Battle Revolution and the anime, Lopunny's chest is completely flat and featureless, it's just its arms in its sprite artwork that resemble breasts, and it's gender ratio in the games is not exclusively female, so there can be male Lopunny. So really, Lopunny wouldn't even be on this list, if it weren't for its sprite artwork in the main-series games putting it in that weird pose with its arms pressed up against its chest and its rear-end sticking out.
Something about its lower body, though, the fact that it's a rabbit (A creature iconic to sexual objectification, thanks to Playboy.), and the fact that its abilities are "Klutz", "Cute Charm", "Limber" and "Scrappy" in its Mega form, rubs me the wrong way.
Lopunny's Mega Evolution is less sexualized and it looks more like a Kick-boxer than a Playboy Bunny, but I still can't help it, but it still feels like a design Game Freak made just so people can masturbate to it. I know that's not the intention, but just feels that way.

Another reason why I don't like Lopunny is because most of the girls I know are apathetic and lazy sows, who only care about looking sexy and taking selfies, rather than being productive people who could do something with their lives, or nice people who care about others and their feelings, not just themselves.
Lopunny just reminds me allot of those shameless teenage girls who would gladly ignore everything else and be as unsympathetic and vain as possible.

Pokemon is rather progressive, especially with representing women in video-games.
Again, I'm not saying that Game Freak intended Lopunny to be sexist or as a figure people can masturbate to, I fully admit that these are my biases talking. This is just my personal representation of its design and how it makes me feel that makes it one of my least favorites. However, it's far from the worst.

9.Jynx.
Jynx is one of the most confusing, ugliest and stupidest looking Pokemon I've ever seen. One of the reasons why I find Jynx so confusing is because I don't know what the hell Jynx is based on. I have 4 guesses on what Jynx based on, but even with these guesses, Jynx will always be a creepy mess of a Pokemon to me.

My first guess is that Jynx is based on Gangoru Girls.
For those of you who don't know, Ganguro Girls are now an outdated fashion trend of women who put on heavy, dark foundation, garish-white eye shadow and lipstick and bleach their hair. The trend died-out sometime during the 2000's (Thank God.), but even at its peak it was considered an alternative, almost punk thing to do back in the 90's, seeing how it was the complete antithesis of the Japanese traditional definition of feminine beauty. As such, Ganguro Girls were depicted are stereotypically non-Japanese, loud, brash and completely full of themselves.
Again, it reminds me allot of those teenage girls I know. When they're not being vain and reckless, they're loud and annoying. I know girls have different personalities and wanting them to be like me is a stupid thing to say, but I just can't help but be annoyed with their constant whining and shouting, as if we're in the middle of a rave.

My second guess is that Jynx is based on the African stereotype, Little Black Sambo.
"The Story of Little Black Sambo" was written in 1899, and was meant to portray a little Indian boy as the tittle character, but was re-illustrated many times to feature an African protagonist, instead. Many people consider the book racist as it depicts the main character as a stereotype, and eventually lead to the name "Sambo" itself to become a racial slur.
However, the book is very popular in Japan, where the stereotype hadn't been established and as a result, the illustrations have become iconic. Sambo's face is featured on dolls, cellphone straps, buttons and much more. Many character from various anime took inspiration from Sambo, like Mr. Popo from Dragon Ball Z. So it's not hard to see the similarities between Sambo's face and Jynx's, which is why so many people consider Jynx herself to be racist.
Because Game Freak didn't want to get accused of racism, they changed Jynx's color scheme from black to purple.

The third guess is that Jynx is based on a female opera singer, especially the iconic cartoon depiction of the fat lady; Pokémon Snap and its third generation sprites depict it singing, especially the Emerald sprite that animates it singing a high note. Jynx may also have origins in the Japanese spirits known as Yuki-onna, who lack feet, akin to Jynx's feet being covered by its dress.

The fourth and most plausible one is that Jynx is based on Yama-uba (also called Yamanba), a yokai which is described as always wearing a tattered red kimono, having whitish-blonde hair, control over snow, dark-colored skin, and large lips, traits which are evident in Jynx.
Its revised coloring may be based on purple discoloration of the skin, a common symptom of frostbite. This fits with Jynx's Ice-Type and how it is found in very cold places.

Satoshi Tajiri sated that they had over 300 Pokemon designs for Generation 1, but they chose to only include their favorites; but if that's the case then how come Jynx ended up among them? Did they not consider that Jynx's face resembles Sambo? Did they not see how this could have negative connotations? If it is just a coincidence that Jynx resembles a famously racist character, and Game Freak was extremely careless by including her and ought have been more sensitive.

8.Simisage, Simisear and Simipour.
Generation 5 may be my favorite generation of Pokemon, but I can agree that it has some truly bad Pokemon, and these three are a prime example.

Let's start for some positives first; I actually really like their concept of having the starter mechanic, and their origin of being based on the Wise Monkeys.
The Wise Monkeys, or sometimes called the three mystic apes, are a pictorial maxim. Together they embody the proverbial principle "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". The three monkeys are Mizaru, covering his eyes, who sees no evil; Kikazaru, covering his ears, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth, who speaks no evil.
There are various meanings ascribed to the monkeys and the proverb including associations with being of good mind, speech and action. In the Western world the phrase is often used to refer to those who deal with impropriety by turning a blind eye.

However, their origin and the starter mechanic is the only thing they have going for them, especially since they're utterly forgettable at best and just downright awful at worst.
Granted, when I played Black version and chose Tepig as my starter, Pansage did come in very useful against Cress and his Panpour. But I just couldn't keep it as team member because of it's low stats and rather mediocre movepool.

What hurts them even more is that they almost have the exact same design, just with different typing and haircuts. Their designs aren't that great and repeating the same bland design 3 times is just frustrating. At least with Jynx, while her design is utterly baffling, at least it's interesting to look at because of how bizzare it is. These 3 have almost the same boring design and it's not interesting in the slightest.

7.Geodude and Graveler.
I think it's time to talk about a personal beef of mine.
While Generation 5 may have had some bad designs, in my honest opinion, Generation 1 has the worst roaster of Pokemon, by far. Most of them didn't age well, and thus it feels weird seeing these new, complex and creatively designed Pokemon, next to these old and boringly designed Pokemon like Geodude, Electrode, Dodrio, Raticate, etc. I was originally going to put Voltorb and Electrode on the list, but in terms of who has the laziest Pokemon design has to go to Geodude. It's basically just a rock with arms and a face. That's it!
Its evolutions are confusing too. Graveler is an even bigger rock, with 4 arms instead of 2, and has a weird horn in his head. Golem, the best one out of the three, looks like a stone lizard that's trapped in a giant bolder. So does that mean there's a lizard inside of Geodude and Graveler? What?

And no, I don't dislike them solely because of their designs, but because they're one of the biggest trolls in Pokemon. Usually, when you enter a cave or a mountain, there are Geodudes and Gravelers, everywhere. It's especially annoying when you don't have any Repels. Plus, they have high defenses, so if you don't have any type advantages, they will stall you until you can't take it and run away; or worse case scenario, you have a super effective attack against them that would K.O. them, but they survive with Sturdy and then blow themselves up, just to hurt your Pokemon and annoy you.

I also have some personal gripes with it. You see, back in 2014, I played my very first Pokemon game on the Nintendo DS, Pokemon Heart Gold. Sadly, because I played it on an Emulator and not on an actual DS I couldn't trade with anyone, not even with myself. I wanted to have a Golem on my team because of its high attack and defense, but because I couldn't trade, I was stuck with a Graveler, and it was quite possibly the weakest member of my team. And if you're asking "Why didn't I use a Tyranitar or a Rhyperior, instead?" It's because Larvitar was very hard to get, and I couldn't trade to get a Rhyperior.
Not to mention, my team was so underleveled that I just couldn't bother anymore and quit.

Geodude and Graveler remind me of dark times that I would rather forget.

6.Emolga.
I actually really like Emolga; it has high speed; it's part Flying-Type and thus is immune to Ground-Types moves; can learn allot of great moves like Volt Switch, Attract, Arial Ace, Double Team, Encore, etc; and I really like its design.
I know allot of you are confused as to why I put it on my least favorites when I actually like it. But there's a smiple explanation for that!
I don't dislike Emolga. I like using Emolga. I hate fighting Emolga. Especially Elesa's Emolga.
Allot of people complain about Whitney and her Miltank, but personally, I've never had that much of a problem with her. I did, however, have a problem with Elesa and her Emolgas.

Elesa is actually in my Top 3 favorite Gym Leaders, but fighting her is an absolute pain. Every time I play Black/White, her team is impossible. How hard can she be? Let me explain:
Elesa has 3 Pokemon: 2 Emolgas and a Zebstrika.
Both of her Emolgas know Quick Attack to attack first; Volt Switch to deal damage and paralyze you, while also switching in with the other Emolga or Zebtrika; Arial Ace that can bypass accuracy checks to always hit; have immunities to Ground-Types; and Pursuit to badly damage your Pokemon that you want to switch.
And her Zebtrika is a powerhouse, with Flame Charge to counter Grass-Types, Spark to damage your Pokemon, and knows Volt Switch and Quick Attack like the Emolgas.
What makes it even worse is that none of the starters you pick will do good against her, since Elesa's Pokemon have type advantage and moves that can counter your starter.
Thank God her Emolgas don't know Attract, otherwise she'd be truly impossible.
Every time I battle her, it feels exhausting.

Elesa's not the only thing that bugs me about it.
A few weeks ago, I replayed Pokemon Black for nostalgia, and during a fight with an NPC, my team was almost completely demolished by a single Emolga! Also, how come when my opponent uses Emolga with Attract and Volt Switch against me it works, but when I try to use it, it fails?

I may love Emolga, but damn (Sorry about that) is it annoying to fight!

5.Diggersby.
Whenever I'm discussing Lopunny, people tend to ask me "Hey! Why aren't you offended by Pokemon like Machamp? Isn't that also a sexualized design just based on men?" And my answer is "Well, that's a false equivalence." Men don't have a problem with being portrayed a majority of the time as a sexual object. Yes, it happens; but there are lots of male or masculine characters with a wide-variety of roles, body-types and representations...Especially in video-games. The same isn't really true for female characters, which is a reason why I see Lopunny as a problem to begin with; and the Machop line isn't exactly overtly sexual either, no more so than your average WWE character. My interpretation of both Lopunny and Machamp is that they're both representative of male power fantasies, rather than one being a fantasy for men and the other being a fantasy for women. Lopunny and Machamp aren't equivalences of the same principal. I'd argue that a closer counterpoint to Lopunny would be Diggersby.
For one thing, they actually seem to be intentionally designed that way, considering they're both humanoid-rabbit based designs, with feminine and masculine characteristics respectfully. But to further the implications here is that masculine things are NOT attractive by nature.
Here's the feminine thing: It is pretty; it even whistles at you if you don't get that this is the object of desire in question.
Here's a masculine thing: It belches at you; it's lumpy; it's conventionally unattractive and undesirable.
This reinforces the gender roles of both men and women in terms of who's a sexual object, and I feel like that's more harmful to us, men, then if Diggersby was just a sexualized, humanoid rabbit creature.

4.Phione.
Hand down, most useless and worthless legendary Pokemon, ever!
I don't really like most Baby Pokemon. They don't anything mechanically to their evolutions, they generally have worst stats than most first-stage Pokemon, and they're usually a pain to evolve. They're the worst type of Dex-filler, and on top of that, most of them aren't even very cute.
Now, there are a few Baby Pokemon that I like: Togepi, Riolu, Tyrouge, Munchlax and Budew.
What's worse than a Baby Pokemon? A Pokemon that's perpetually a baby.

Phione is obtained by breeding a Manaphy with a Ditto, and though it is related to Manaphy in that way, it can't evolve into Manaphy, or anything into that matter. So it makes it a much, much weaker version of Manaphy with allot less moves to work with. All it really has going for it is its Hydration ability, which lots of other and better Pokemon have anyway, so there's literally no reason to use it over Pokemon like Vaporeon or Gorebyss, or an actual Manaphy.

Having a breedable legendary is interesting, but you can't really breed it for IV's or Moves that its parents have to be, so there's really no benefit to any of the Pokemon involved.

Phione is doomed to be a legendary lab pet and the worst Dex-filler Pokemon, ever.

3.Stantler.
What's worse than a Dex-filler Pokemon? A Pokemon that was originally not meant to be a Dex-filler.
I'm sure that having a deer Pokemon back in the day was interesting, but with newer and better Pokemon introduced, especially vastly superior deer Pokemon like Sawsbuck and Xerneas, Stantler has practically no reason to exist, whatsoever.

Stantler's design is also very bland and unremarkable, with the only thing having going for it are its horns. Its snouts looks ugly, like a 100 year old grandmother, and it has a sphere for a tail. Plus, it's just a horrible Pokemon to use, with very low stats that all accumulate to a rather pitiful Base Stat of 465, with none of its stats being any special.

What really makes Stantler so sad for me is that it might have been an interesting idea to have a deer-based Pokemon back in the day, but with the introduction of Sawsbuck and Xerneas rendered Stantler's existence meaningless, which I find to be very sad and pathetic.
Another reason why I find Stantler so depressing is because I don't like the idea of Dex-filler Pokemon. It basically makes already existing Pokemon seem worthless and unimportant. And in my opinion, Stantler is the worst type of Dex-filler.

Maybe if they give it Mega Evolution or an Alolan form, then it might be more interesting and popular, but I don't think that's enough to completely save it.

2.Exeggcute.
By far, the most confusing Pokemon, ever! Never in my freaking life have I seen a Pokemon who's design, biology, and function baffled me on so many levels.

First of all, why is Exeggcute composed of 6 eggs? Why not have it be just one egg, wouldn't that be a more logical design? I mean yes, it would've been boring to have just one egg be a Pokemon, but there are ways around that. You could give the egg a cracked look, as if it's been in multiple battles, or it's psychic powers a trying to escape and that's how it has cracks on it. Or, I don't know, but anything but this.

Second, why is Exeggcute a Grass/Psychic-Type?
And don't try to tell me that they're seeds and not eggs! They have "egg" in their name, are shaped and have cracks on them like eggs, one of them has its yolk exposed, and a good chunk of their Pokedex entries refer to them as eggs. These are clearly eggs!
I mean, I guess you could make a stretch that they're part Psychic-Types because eggs contain Protein, which is good for both the body and the mind. But that's really pushing it.
Heck, not even the Pokedex know what they are:
Stadium: "A Pokémon that is like the seeds of a plant. If you find one and chase it, others will join it without you noticing."
Emerald: "It consists of six eggs that care for each other. The eggs attract each other and spin around. When cracks increasingly appear, it is close to evolution.
Fire Red: "Even though it appears to be eggs of some sort, it was discovered to be a life-form more like plant seeds. "
D/P/Pl/B/W/B2/W2/X: "Its six eggs converse using telepathy. They can quickly gather if they become separated."

Third, how the hell do 6 eggs evolve into a coconut tree?
Like I said, I don't consider Exeggcute as seeds, so how could eggs grow into a coconut tree?
I also find Alolan Exeggutor to be weird, because it's a Grass/Dragon-Type. So are Exeggcute's eggs dragon eggs? I mean, that would make a lot of sense, but that doesn't explain why it's a Grass-Type.

Fourth, how in the world do 6 eggs hatch from one egg?
I don't think this needs an explanation.

1.Grimer and Muk.
Another lazy and stupid looking design!
Allot of people complain about Vanniluxe and Garbodor, when really, older Pokemon they got to know in their youth, like Electrode, Geodude and Muk are even lazier. It clearly is a sign of being blinded by nostalgia and not even trying to accept and face reality.

I used a Vanniluxe on my latest playthrough of Pokemon Black, and it proved to be a really good addition to my team.
Garbodor is ugly, but it was done intentionally, because it's suppose to be a reference the phrase "dust bunny", a term used in both the U.S. and Japan for clumps of lint. In Japan, the word "dust" is also used to refer to other forms of trash and refuse. So, in my opinion, Garbodor excels in that category.
My point is that these Pokemon whom people give so much crap are rather undeserving of it.
And I know what allot of you may be asking "But if Garbodor's design represented pollution well, why can't you say the same thing for Muk or Weezing?". Here's the thing. I DO actually think that both Muk and Weezing represented pollution well, but not completely.
Weezing represented polluted gas really well, but I can't say the same thing for Muk, since it's ugly without being interesting.
It appears to be a pile of living sludge. Muk may also be based on the imagined fear that heavy pollution, caused by the leakage and/or improper disposal of toxic/radioactive waste, may result in the creation of new and undesirable life.
That is actually a pretty neat idea for a Pokemon, but both Grimer and Muk are literally just piles of purple sludge with arms, eyes and a mouth, that's it! They didn't take any chances with these designs, they don't look creative and they don't reflect their Pokedex entries, which are frankly much more interesting than both of them.
For Grimer:
Stadium: "Sludge that was transformed when exposed to X-rays from the moon. Loves sludge, industrial waste and other refuse."
Ruby: "Grimer's sludgy and rubbery body can be forced through any opening, however small it may be. This Pokémon enters sewer pipes to drink filthy wastewater." (That's just foul.)
For Muk:
Yellow: "Smells so awful, it can cause fainting. Through degeneration, it lost its sense of smell. "
Emerald: "It prefers warm and humid habitats. In the summertime, the toxic substances in its body intensify, making Muk reek like putrid kitchen garbage. "

They could've given them toxic filled blisters that are radioactive, or multiple mouths and limbs to truly give it the mutant look, or anything other than we got.

And as usual, I don't hate Grimer and Muk on their designs alone.
Allot you know that Generation 5 is my favorite, and one of the contributing factors as to why I love it is because it has my favorite roaster of Pokemon ever introduced. I know allot of people thought that Generation's 5 Pokemon aren't that greatly designed, but that's not the same for me. I think most of them look amazing.

Let me tell you a little story.
Back in 2011, my love for Pokemon has started to fade away because I thought that Generation 4 was the end. It introduced over 30 evolutions and pre-evolutions to older Pokemon, and it was based around the themes of the Pokemon Wolrd's origin. It felt a conclusion to a story. Because I thought it's going to be the end, I was beginning to give up on Pokemon.
However, one day, I accidentally bumped into a website that showed all of the new Unova Pokemon, the Gym Leaders, Team Plasma, etc; and I was blown away by it. Seriously, when I first laid by eyes on them, it felt so new and refreshing. I liked the so much that I spent a good chunk of my Summer Vacation drawing all of them in a big Math Notebook. Generation 5 literally saved my love for Pokemon, and I can't be thankful enough.

When I see people hating on Generation 5 for no good reason just pisses me off. I don't mind criticism, but these hate comments do nothing but make others less confident on what they should love. And some of these criticisms, much like with Frozen, are just stupid. Sure, Pokemon like Stunfisk, KlingKlang and Woobat I can understand, but they're not enough to qualify Gen 5 as the worst, especially if you consider the fact that other Generations have their fair-share of weak Pokemon. So seeing Pokemon like Garbodor and Vanilluxe be treated as the worst, even though they don't really deserve it, while Pokmeon like Muk and Electrode are being given a pass, is just infuriating. Like an innocent person got blamed for a crime he/she didn't commit while the actual criminal got away with it.

I'm sorry if my article was a little messy and crowded, but I had a lot on my mind, and I didn't want it to be a confused mess.
I'm also sorry if I sounded like I was trying to force my opinion and biases on you. I understand that there are people who have different opinions and do actually like these Pokemon. I want you guys to understand that what I said in this article are my biases and opinion alone, though I did take inspiration from other people.

Pokemon is a wonderful franchise, and it's been the home and escape for many children and people throughout the world, but it's not perfect. It has it's flaws, but what franchise doesn't? I love most of the Pokemon and I dislike the rest. But that doesn't mean I want to ruin your opinion, it just means I want to share mine.

As always, smell ya later!
Why can't Muk look like this?

Please be note that I do not have any manuals for the GameBoy, GameBoy Color and GameBoy Advance series Pokémon games and I do not have Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon yet. So I will update this from time to time while I can. Also, there are information differences between the edited version of this article parts and the actual versions of the packaging back parts like the Black version of Pokémon and stuff.
