After the guy vote for your pokemon, then good luck for the primary judging, when the contestants appeal moves.

A scarf* could be necessary.

I've done this a few times and it works.

*scarf: go to Slateport, to the fan club and talk to the old man. There are five colors of scarf, red, blue, green, yellow, and pink.

Funny Story:
So the other day I found a small stuffed Pikachu in my house. It was so adorable and I just couldn't resist those eyes... Natuarally, I had him by my side every second of the day, I did grow quite attached! As the day ended, my friends and I decided to go to wendy's for some frostees...yuuumm... I did not want to leave that sweet Pikachu at home so, of course, I brought him! I actually placed half of his body in my shirt and let his little hands and head stick out from the top of my shirt! As I reached the beginning of the checkout line, I got a very strange look from the cashier. At that moment, I made a few very high-pitched "Pika" noises and the cashier looked horrified. When I left the building, I heard the word "Pikachu" spoken among the employees, and roars of laughter!

Reed, Madison and Samantha entered the Poke Center. The Nurse Joy never saw Reed and Madison before so she questioned Samantha if this was a new travel bunch. Madison, first to talk, chirped, "I'm Madison Verra from Twinleaf! This is my Budew!" Rosie spun on one little foot.
"Next!" Reed, pleasant to be around, replied, "I'm Reed Westlake from Twinleaf! I have a Shinx!" Buzzy barked happily.
"Are you a Trainer now too, Samantha?" "Yes," she whispered. "What?" Madison repeated at an audible volume. Croagunk poked Madison. Reed told the Nurse about Croagunk because now Madison was on the floor doing nothing.
"All set! Professor Rowan knows about you guys. Here's your Trai-"
"Wait!" cried an exhausted male voice. Two sets of heavy footsteps trampled the mat by the door.

brock: wow that is zim a pokemon irken
* ash encountered more irkens*
ash: wow so many irken pokemon
*ash threw his pokeballs at all of them and they r now caught*

So there's a trainer-to-be named Reed. He's this weird guy who wants a Pokemon. One day his mom lets him borrow her Shinx to safely reach Sandgem. There Reed asks the Prof if he can have a Pokemon. It's afternoon so he ran out and the next bunch is coming in half a week. Reed can't stay and wait so he leaves dismayed.
A girl named Madison wants a Pokemon too. She borrowed her dad's Budew so she could reach Sandgem too. There she finds Reed and wonders where his new Pokemon is.
Madison challenges Reed to a battle. "NOT IN MY LAB!" the Professor shouts.
