Why does so many people fail to realize that Ash is STILL 10?

I don't get it. I mean, It's only natural for them to believe this nonsense, but shouldn't it be obvious that he hasn't even aged at all? NOT even by a day? He hasn't grown any taller. If he was 17 like other people say than why is he still like at the same height as Dawn and May? And people even think he is 24 despite his height being the same like Dawn's and May's. Shouldn't it be clear that he's pretty much the same from before? A 24 year ols guy couldn't be the same height as a 10 year old UNLESS he has some sort of growth disorder. It really makes no sense to me.

fangs friend jack has just realized the drawing of Mary in fangs sketchbook.

fang: oh that's no one just somebody i met last night.

fang: um just somebody from school.

jack looks at the picture and at fang well its a very nice drawing i guess (he laughs)
