Blackcough: A killer, no cure. Any animal who gets it is sure to die

Brick woke up the next morning with a chill. He poked his head out of the den, and saw a glistening blanket of snow across the clearing.

'Leaf-bare is here!' He thought. 'Great. Leaf-bare brings whitecough.'

Blake shivered. He got up and saw all the other kittens playing in the snow.

"What is that that daddy?" Blake asked in amazement.

"Snow. It's leaf-bare." Brick meowed.

"Can I go play out there?" Blake asked impatient.

"Yes. Go right ahead." Brick mewed.

"Yes!" Blake squeaked running out. He got on the snow and he sank. The snow has up to his stomach. It was so cold. He spotted Littlecloud playing with the other kittens. He noticed Clicky come out. She was holding a small kitten, that looked like she was born a few days ago. The kit was squealing as it's tail and feet brushed against the shivering snow.

"Mew! Mew! Mew!" It cried.

"It's okay, Cleah. It's just snow." Clicky mumbled through her mouth full of fur.

He could here coughing inside his den. He looked inside. It was Blazey.

"She okay?" Blake asked.

"She'll be fine. She just has whitecough." Blossom meowed giving Blazey's head a lick to cool her down.

"Ah, get over it Blazey!" Blake hissed.

"Blake! She wont get over it for some time. Now leave your sister alone." Blossom meowed.

Blake trotted out in the snow to where he sunk up to his belly. He saw Littlecloud and trudged through the snow to her.

"H-he-hey Lit-Little-Cl-cloud." Blake shivered.

"Hi, B-Blake." She shivered too.

"It's r-really c-cold out-t h-hear!" Blake meowed.

"Yeah it sh-sure is-s!" Littlecloud said.

"Lets-s go up in th-that t-tree where it's-s sh-sheltered." Blake said jumping up in the tree, fallowed by Littlecloud. The tree was so high, and they could see the whole camp, and past it! They could see a place they've never seen before. Big huge monsters roared past. Twolegs walked all around.

"What do you suppose that is?" Littlecloud asked.

"Looks like a twoleg place," Blake guessed.

"Yeah! Lets go!" Littlecloud said climbing down.

"No Littlecloud," Blake hissed. "It's too far and too dangerous."

"Come on!" Littlecloud pleaded.

"Hold on," Blake meowed. He climbed down the tree in search of Brick. He found him sitting on the snow covered High Rock.

"Dad? Whats that place, that I can see from the top of the great oak? You know, with the twolegs and monsters that has a rancid smell." Blake asked.

"The Thunderpath. Don't you dare ever cross that until you begin training." Brick warned.

"Training?" Blake wondered.

"To see if your a worthy fighter. Bryce will start tomorrow." Brick told him.

"Oh...Oh yeah! Did mom tell you Blazey has whitecough?" Blake laughed.

"You shouldn't be laughing like that! Leaf-bare is horrible! It brings all kind of sicknesses, and the pray hides in their burrows! Whitecough can spread! And if whitecough doesn't get treated to, greencough will come! And if that's not treated to, blackcough! Do you really want your sister to die, Blake?" Brick yelled. "Man, Bubbles was the only one here who knew how treat these kind of things..."

"Ashley knows how!" Ian called from afar.

"Huh? She does?" Brick asked.

"Yeah! I'll go get her!" Ian meowed full of hope.

Moments later, Ashley ran into Brick's den, and came out a few minutes after with a worried look on her face. She whispered something into Brick's ear.

"Blazey has greencough!" Brick shouted in fear and worry.

"Yes. If it gets worse, let me know. My dens over there." Ashley said pointing with her tail.

"I'll be sure to." Brick purred.

"This is scary..." Blake meowed.
