Of course! In black and white movies, people showed more expression while acting and the plots surely were more interesting than all those boring and repetitive plots there are nowadays.
Yes, of course! Not only does black and white allow more interesting and unique cinematography (hello, expressionism!), what with the shadows and the interplay of light and dark, movies were just made better back then. Actors had talent instead of just being pretty faces, writers were more creative because they had to work around production codes (even though I HATE the Hayes Production Code, it did make the writing in movies much more subtle because the writers had to make everything oblique) and great directors made many great movies per year. Yes, there are a lot of really bad B&W movies, just as there are a lot of really bad color movies, but I've always had a soft spot in my heart for B&W. It's so much more mysterious and intriguing than color, just as the night is than the day!
