How do you delete songs off an iPod?

I just got an iPod nano, the newest model. The problem is, its used. And I hate or have never heard of like all the songs on there. How do I delete them?? Please help!

btw I HAVE NO IDEA WHOS IPOD IT IS. I didn't download them, so I don't know HOW the fuck I'm supposed to uncheck them!

Pull up itunes, and uncheck the boxes of the umnwanted songs... Then click Sync. That should work

From the iTunes menu, it should say the title of your iPod (___'s iPod most likely.) Click on that and a bunch of status elements should show up, including a button that says "restore". When you press that, it returns the iPod to its standard settings and all of the old music will be gone and it will sync to your iTunes. It can take a while, but it's the safest way to do it.
