why are basements & attics so dam creepy???

i just hate being in them! they make me uncomfortable & scared/nervous...unless i'm with people i'm some what fine. it's when i'm usually alone. i avoid them as much as i can & have so far in my life mostly.
one time, my sis wanted to see if we could catch anything in the attic so we went up there, took a picture of the further part of the attic. we looked at the picture, zoomed in & saw we caught a REALLY creepy foggy-looking screaming face.
ever since we haven't been up there...
i hate those two places...

It's because those scary movies you've watched are still fresh in your mind XP

But yeah, I kind of feel for you because I'm claustrophobic (I hate small spaces) and I have an attic. I've never really been inside it (too dark and lots of spiders). *shudders*

As for that pic you took, it's probably just dust in the air, maybe light or something? I know how you feel I used to be so paranoid and watchful of everything around me, but it soon fades away. It's just a coincidence that it looked like a face. Once I was sleeping at my aunt's house and I woke up in the middle of the night. The closet was open and the folded clothes looked like a face. It's nothing to be afraid of honestly. XD It might be a good ghost like Casper. But you shouldn't fear it, as it gives them more energy to scare you even more!

Maybe in movies and books scary stuff happens in them. You probably also aren't use to being in those places. There are usually a lot of gross bugs in basements. I don't really find attics creepy.

Trust me, I hear ya...

I have this double light switch (one controls the hall light and one the attic) I feel like if I turn on the one in the attic something will get mad at me. One night I accidentey flipped that light on; I hear scratch, go in my room to see the cross on my closet rotate up and fall to the floor.

Most peoples fears of those places usually come from them being unfamiliar with those places, or their fear of the dark unknown. Those places are usually used much less than the other areas of a house, and are often neglected when it comes to usage (I mean let's be serious, who really goes in their attic for anything other than specific problems with the house namely the ceiling?) Basements used to be a lot more frightening atmosphere wise, but most of them these days are a lot less eerie with their atmosphere. Attics haven't seemed to change though, their still scary as crap! Haha.
