Math class incident?

Last week was my first week back at school. Algebra is my first block, and we were going over material that would be on a quiz. I was writing down some stuff, copying answers, and this guy I've been talking to for about a week turned around, put a dime on my desk, gave me a thumbs up, then turned back around. Does this mean anything, or was he just being weird? I kept the dime, and I plan on asking him tomorrow what he was doing.

Maybe, just maybe, he's a spy who acted nice and that dime is a secret camera to see & track your every move and capture you once you're defenseless all because of that dime! :O
Or maybe he was just being weird...

"A dime for your thoughts."

I know that isn't as common of a phrase as a penny for your thoughts, but it is a phrase.

It may have had something to do with one of the questions that may be on the quiz? If not - probably just being weird.
