To me honor is following the more traditional, fair, hard working version of things that in return for working under said conditions, you get a reason to be proud and a title that follows behind you.
And I guess it doesnt really matter all that much any more, but its something that would always be nice to have as it is a good confidence booster and can raise your name in society.
