How do you start up a conversation?

oh it depends who i talk to...
if its a friend i usually start by asking how's it going or look at his face reaction
and if he or she looks upset i ask whats wrong / is there something bothering you first
also i usually focus on the person interests
to keep the conversation going

Usually I start with "So how was your day?" that would probably lead to what he or she is doing, so we may talk about what we like to do and so on, but if I'm talk with someone I already know; like you, it would be random. :)

Well, the later models of conversations should have come with a electric starter, but if not, cold starting them isn't hard. First, you need to grab the crank handle on the front of the conversation, then crank it counter clockwise twice to get the fuel in the engine. Then, after you've done that, give it one powerful clockwise quarter turn turn with your left hand. If that doesn't work, be sure your ignition switch is in the 'battery' position, and not the 'off' or 'magneto' position, then try again.

Usually, I make a stupid joke, and the subject somehow trails off into something relevant to the universe. Very rarely do I intentionally start a serious conversation.
