Why does Goofy stand on two legs when Pluto remains on four? They're both dogs.

I think it's because Goofy is a friend, a main character. So he has to be bipedal. Pluto, however, was introduced as a pet. So he had to exhibit the qualities of the typical dog.

I've always asked the same. Besides, why does Goofy talks and Pluto doesnt? And why one of both is a pet and the other one a friend? xD Is it because one of them was borned poor and end up like a pet? (?) I dont know.
