Chapter 3: Spirit Of The Fox, Part 3: A Prism Divided
Seconds after obtaining the prism, Taju began glow brighter. As the prism was still in the process of fully merging with him, a rainbow-colored energy was seen forming around him. Almost like an aura. Both Airi and the feral fox took notice of this, realizing the prism was closer to becoming fully merged with Taju. Airi's eyes widened in fear of this, and quickly stood back up. She knew she couldn't reach Taju with her scythe from down on the ground, so she reached for her gun she had hooked on a gun holster, on her right side. Afterwards, immediately started firing upward at Taju with her gun. The two other foxes came at the feral with their swords, but he kept sending energy blasts towards them, knocking down at least one of them. As Airi continued to fire at Taju, he kept sending out several aura blasts towards her, in an effort to get her to stop. She dodged them, and continued firing. That is, until she ran out of bullets.
"Crap, I can't let that brat bond with that prism," she told herself.
But before she could do anything else, the feral fox looked up at Taju, telling, "Taju, the bonding processes is almost done, just make sure to keep the prism in your possession a few minutes longer!"
Taju nodded at what he said, and decide it was best to fly off back towards where they came. Airi growled, and wasted no time in following after him. The two other foxes assumed it was best to follow Airi, and they did so. The feral fox also did the same, mainly to make sure she didn't ruined the merging process. As they all ran through the forest after Taju, Airi knew she was running out of time before he fully merged with it, so she had to think fast. She immediately remembered she had an extra bullet in her pocket. She took the bullet and loaded it into her gun. Airi looked at the other two foxes and said, "You two keep the feral busy while I take care of the kid!"
Afterwards, she continued chasing Taju down through the forest. The other two foxes did as she said and proceeded to attack the fox. They shot at him--not with regular bullets--but with special ones that can affect the fox's abilities. The fox jumped upwards and made cherry blossom petals appear and head straight for them, cutting through one of the fox's sleeves. The feral fox then dashed right past them, hoping to get to Taju in time. As the fox ran after Airi and Taju, Taju was still tryin to fight her off. Taju kept flying off as he shot out aura blasts at her, going back towards the main torii gate. Just as he flew past the gate, the feral fox finally caught up to her and leaped forward to pin her to the ground. He growl viciously at her, but she obvious wasn't phased by it at all.
"Get off me, you annoying little shit!" she shouted, struggling to free right arm from his under his paw.
After managing to free her arm, she quickly punched him off of her. After doing this, she stood back up and noticed Taju now glowing brighter. Indicating that the prism was almost done fully bonding with him.
"Hate to cut our reunion short, but I've got other plans," she said, before running off.
The feral fox got back up and ran after her. Taju flew right past the main gate, and noticed Airi still running after him. He shot out multiple aura blasts towards her, trying to get her to back off. But she was determined to stop him. With one last bullet, she held her gun at him and fired. The bullet hit him in the back of his head. He didn't feel it, but it did interrupt the bonding process. Seconds after the bullet hit him, the glow around Taju began flickering. As if he was starting to lose his connection with it. The feral fox saw what had just happened, and was both frightened and angered. Scared for Taju but also angry at Airi. He knew she'd done something to the prism. Airi stood there and watched as the glowing went from flicking to showing at all. After the glowing stopped, the prism suddenly appeared outside Taju's body.
But Taju wasn't aware of any of this, as he had gone unconscious soon after the prism left his body. Afterwards, Taju began falling back towards the ground as the prism was seen separating itself into 7 individual pieces. The feral fox rushed over to where Taju was falling and quickly formed sakura petals slightly below him in order to catch him.
And just as Taju safely landed, the individual prism fragments spun around in a circle. The feral fox noticed what was happening, and stood as the prism fragments continued spinning around a few more seconds. And then, the fragments suddenly scattered off into random directions. Leaving both Airi and the feral fox uncertain of where they scattered off to. And as soon as this happened, the fox then looked toward Airi in anger. Airi smirked, knowing exactly what had just happened to the prism fragments.
"Just like our last encounter. Only THIS time..." she told, pausing a bit before reaching into her pocket.
She pulled out a small device, roughly the size of a mobile phone.
"I'll have this with me to find them all in no time," she said, turning her back towards him.
Afterwards, she began walking away from the two of them. With the prism fragments scattered off to who-knows-where, and knowing they didn't have a way to track them down, the feral fox looked over at the still unconscious Taju.
"He was THIS close to merging with it. So close," he said to himself.
At this point, he realized there was no point in sticking around there. Meanwhile, back at the school, Juni was still worrying about where Taju had vanished to, He sat at his desk, having texted and called Taju multiple times--which each attempt failing. He also couldn't stop thinking about the feral fox he saw earlier.
"Where are you, Taju?" he said quietly to himself.
Karo heard what he said, as he was sitting at his desk just behind him.
"Soooo.... Where did you say Taju went off to again?" he asked, mainly just to mess with him.
Juni knew this and simply said, "I DIDN'T, now screw off."
Karo smirked, as he could tell he was getting to him already.
"Huh. I mean, he's been gone way too long time for just a bathroom break," he added.
"OK, Karo, you can zip it..." he quickly replied back.
"Maybe something happened to him--something BAD--" Koaru said.
"Karo, shut--"
"Or maybe he got kidnapped and--"
Juni had enough and turned around rather quickly.
"I SAID SHUT UP, Karo!" he shouted back at him.
