Rose sat in the Great Hall eating her lunch. It was a Monday, and frantically Rose absoulety HATED Mondays. All of the sudden she saw Amber swooping down with all of the owls for the usual post. The only good thing about Mondays. Rose had a great amount of mail today, so much she might have to read some of it before bed. She quickly scanned through the contents. Daily Prophet, (the usual), a letter from Hugo, another letter from her Mum and Dad, and a letter from-who was that? Rose was sure she had never gotten a letter from this person before. Maybe Albus would know who it was, he seemed to know a lot of people. Luckily, Albus walked into The Great Hall. ''Hey,Albus?'' She asked. He looked up. ''Yeah?'' ''Would who happen to know who a Arthur Smith is?'' He looked puzzled. ''No, let me read it.'' Before Rose could object, Albus snatched the letter right out of Rose's hands. He tore the letter open and began to read in his head. His eyes scanned the page quickly, as if he was skimming the page. ''This is really weird....he was a boyfriend of your mother's and wants to meet you!'' Rose was stunned. She had never known her mother had dated anyone besides her father....now that she did she was curious. Maybe she would write him back...it wouldn't hurt, would it? ''Rose, I know what your'e thinking about. It would be stupid to go looking for him. I mean, what would your parents, mainly your father, say?'' Albus looked at her with pleading eyes. He obviously thought it was a bad idea. Albus knew the difference between the two, very, very well. ''Albus, I want to. I mean, if you went with me to the guy's house, both you and me would be safe.'' He thought for a moment, then answered. ''Ok, but you don't even know his address.'' ''I can figure that out, it won't be hard.'' Albus still looked apprenhisve, but went along with it.
2 Hours Later
The school day was over now, and for that Rose was grateful. She used her time wisely today, in the library trying to find an ''Arthur Smith.'' So far, she had no luck, but like her mother, kept trying. Rose was so very tired and exhausted that she didn't even notice James see her and walk over. ''Hey Rosie, what are you up to?'' ''Trying to find a Arthur Smith.'' James looked like he had seen a ghost. ''I heard that name before...'' He mumbled, trailing off. Rose practially lunged at him. ''You do??'' Rose was so excited, she felt like he gave her energy pills. ''Rose! Don't get excited. I'm not saying anything about him.'' Rose's face fell. ''Why not?'' ''Because, Rose, if you have nothing nice to say about someone, don't say anything at all.
And he left the room.
4 Days Later
Rose realized that she could talk to Professor Longbottom about this. I mean, he had known her ever since she was 11, why wouldn't he know? After class she went back to the Herbology gardens, and much to her liking, Professor Longbottom was defiently there. ''Hello Rose!'' He greeted her happily. ''Professor Longbottom, I have a question.'' Rose said shyly. This might not work, as James said he wasn't a nice man. But, Professor Longbottom would tell the truth. ''Is this about an Arthur Smith?''He asked. Now Rose was very confused. How would he know the question she was going to ask him? ''James told me you'd come looking for information about him.'' That little snitch! He probably told Victoire, and Teddy too! Now she had absoulety no one to go to. ''Rose, I must tell you something.'' Rose looked up, very embarssed. ''Arthur Smith dosen't exist. James made him up.''
3 Days Later
James had done a very good job of hiding from Rose, as both he and she knew that she was angry with him. But she caught him in the Gryffindor Common Room. ''James!'' She called. ''I would like to talk to you!'' Knowing full well that he was cornered, James walked over, sulking. ''James, I want to tell you something.'' He looked up. ''You hate me now, don't you?'' He asked. Rose acted quickly. ''No, James, of course I don't hate you. I just want to know why you did it.'' ''Well, you always said that you liked mysteries.'' Rose found this, a very stupid reason to do what he did. ''Yes, but James that took up a lot of time in my life that I'll never get back. I could have been studying!'' She said, to see if that would cheer him up. It did. ''As if she does anything else...'' James grinned. ''Don't think you're off the hook, James Potter, you will pay for this.'' James's grin melted. ''But for now, wer'e still good.'' And they both started laughing, and went to go tell Albus the full story.
