Okay so this kinda starts everything for Starlight, you'll know what I mean later on! ^_^
"And you're sure you don't mind?" I asked Esme, who was smiling down at Alana in her arms.
"No, not at all, I promise to take excellent care of her." Esme promised.
I was standing in the Cullen house, a half hour before school starts. When Esme and Rose found out that I took Alana to a daycare while I was in school, they volunteered to take care of her, free of charge. So I gave in, because they so clearly wanted to take care of her so badly.
"C'mon! Time for school!" Alice yelled excitingly, taking my hand and dragging me to Edward's silver Volvo.
I could hear Emmett's booming laughter from the living room as I got into the seat beside Edward. He held my hand softly in his and smiled at me before pulling out of the driveway.
Edward and Alice continued their school schedule's like they never even left. And the hospital gladly welcomed Carlisle back with open arms.
The only things that were bad were that Jake wouldn't return my phone calls. And then there was the fight Charlie and I got into . . .
"Bella, I don't want you hanging around him," Charlie said angrily as soon as he heard that they were back.
"Dad, it's okay, it was all just a big misunderstanding -"
"A misunderstanding? He broke your heart Bella," he told me like I had forgotten.
"I know that . . . but . . . now I'm healing. He's healing it."
"What about Jake? He was doing a pretty good job."
"But it still wouldn't have completely healed -"
"I don't want him messing you up again, Bells."
"He won't."
Charlie sighed.
"He can only stay over here for a little while every day, and you'll have a curfew too."
"Okay," I said, knowing that the worst was over.
We pulled into the school parking lot, which seemed to be a buzz of excitement.
"Looks like we have a new student," Edward said, obviously reading everyone's mind.
"Really? This late in the year?" I asked.
"How come I didn't see this?" Alice asked, annoyed from the backseat.
"Maybe it was just unexpected," I comforted.
"Maybe . . ." she mumbled, taking my comfort with a smile as she got out.
Edward opened the door for me and we held hands as we walked into the school building with a talkative Alice beside me.
"I think we should take a shopping trip," she suggested and I rolled my eyes. Alice . . .
"No," I said.
"But you and Lala need new clothes!" she said as if I committed a serious crime.
I opened my mouth to say something when Alice got that faraway look in he eyes, she was having a vision.
"Angela and Ben will be sitting with us at lunch, I'm glad they're still your friends," Alice said.
"Me too," I mumbled, and me and Edward said bye to her as we went into English.
It wasn't until the only class that I don't have with Edward that I first saw the new girl.
I sat in my desk, and she sat in the empty seat beside me.
"Hi, I'm Amaranth Stone," a bright and friendly voice greeted me and I looked up into a pair of clear dark brown eyes in an ivory, fair skinned, no blemishes face with brown hair cascading around her.
"I'm Bella Swan," I said, and she smiled.
"Careful, I wouldn't talk to Bella. Hanging around her might make you turn into a zombie," Lauren Mallory said from a few desks away.
Amaranth glared at her.
"I'd rather hang out with someone as nice as Bella than a skank like you," Amaranth said menacingly, her bright voice turning dark and threatening in an instant.
My eyes widened in disbelief at what she just called Lauren.
"Hmph. Whatever." Lauren shrugged it off and looked away.
"Thanks . . . but you really didn't have to do that, now she'll just go and ruin you reputation." I said, feeling bad because it was my fault, Lauren, for some reason, is always out to get me.
She snorted.
"Like I really care about my reputation," she said just as the teacher came in.
The teacher wanted us to look up the meaning of our names, which wasn't hard for me because I already knew the meaning of my name. Bella means "Beautiful."
I looked over at Amaranth, who seemed to already know the meaning of hers too. Curious, I looked up her name and when I found it I had to stifle a gasp.
