The problem with so many Delena fans is that they believe what they want to believe. They see and read something and they try to constitute their own theories. It just totally makes me laugh when they constantly try to pimp Delena and say that Elena loves Damon as much as she loves Stefan. I’m sorry but that is NOT true whatsoever. I’ve read all 6 novels (without skipping a page) and I can assure you, it’s not even close. In the novels, it is constantly stated that Stefan Salvatore is the ultimate soulmate of Elena Gilbert and vice versa. In so many other words, Stefan is Elena’s “other half”, “her one true love”, “her best-beloved”, “her equal and her opposite”, and yes, these are actual quotes from one of the novels. They are one heart, one soul, their hearts beat to the same rhythm. I really don’t know what more proof Delena fans need in order to realize that Stefan will ALWAYS be Elena Gilbert’s one true love, her eternal soulmate, her twin soul/twin flame. Even in Shadow Souls, the ‘eternal soulmate principle’ is implemented into the book. True soul mates/true lovers/twin souls/twin flames are connected by a silvery blue cord, the colour of moonlight, and this cord leads them to their true eternal soulmate/twin soul/twin flame, especially whenever they have dreams about their true soulmate or out of body experiences. In Shadow Souls, Elena saw the silver cord and guess who that silver cord lead her to? STEFAN SALVATORE. This means that no matter what happens, Stefan and Elena are eternally connected for all of eternity, they are the true soul mates. The silver cord indicates (according to L .J. Smith herself) that whomever the silver cord leads to is the complete and total half of the person who sees the cord and there can only be ONE. I really don’t think that a lot of Delena fans have read the novels so this is not surprising to me. They believe what they want to believe and they constitute their own delusional theories. Frankly. I’m tired of seeing them, because most of them lack any facts and any logic. Delena fans like to run around using the term “Twin Flames” for their ship, when more then half of them don’t even know what the true meaning of Twin Flames really is. They think Twin Flames is about being opposites attract, having tons of chemistry, “sizzle”, “heat” and passion. But what they don’t understand is that the true Twin Flame connection has absolutely NOTHING to do with opposite personalities whatsoever. In fact, TF’s can be very alike, somewhat alike, somewhat different, or opposite in personality but again, personality (or tons of passion) has nothing to do with TF’s. My aunt, who is a psychic and an expert at this kind of thing, told me that the TF connection is about the soul, the soul frequency. It’s also about unconditional love, acceptance and it’s about a spiritual awakening. Normally, Twin Flame love is described to be pure and it is the most divine love anyone on this Earth can feel. When Twin Flames are together, they experience ultimate bliss, happiness and joy. Also, true twin flame love is not based on passion, it’s not a physical or emotional connection. It is a soulful and spiritual connection. The two souls involved are spiritually in tune and compatible. This is why I laugh so hard when Delena fans run around using Twin Flames for their ship because Delena are FAR from Twin Flames. FAR from it. Stefan and Elena’s love for each other is the heart and the soul of this entire series and this is not pimping on my part, this is just reality. The whole series is based on Stefan and Elena’s love for one another, from the beginning of the series to the recent. Is it possible that Elena could choose Damon over Stefan in the novels? Yes, it is always possible. I’m not trying to say that it isn’t. But the soulmate principle (which L .J. has been implementing in her novels/trilogies/series for years) and the silver cord does not lie. There is only one true soulmate (from the story) and this is the one person whom they are destined to be with for all of eternity. But again, this does not mean that eternal soul mates always end up together (although, there is no reason why they shouldn’t), even I know that. But the silver cord represents the fact that no matter what happens or what comes between them, whether Stefan and/or Elena go into other relationships etc, nothing and nobody will be able to break their eternal bond. I mean, even on the TV show, KW and JP have said that Stefan and Elena are the true epic love story of the series. This is not pimping of the ship. It’s not pimping if it’s a reality. I’m just tired of everyone supporting Delena out of popular opinion because I can assure you, that is what it is. It’s the popular thing to do. But like I say, just ‘cause it’s popular, doesn’t make it RIGHT. To say that Elena loves Damon just as much as she loves Stefan is just silly IMO and I just shake my head when I see such things being said, because it’s simply not true. It’s really sad to see people so stuck in their own world of delusions instead of looking at what is reality and accepting it.
Interviewer: Was there a debate in the writer's room as to whether she would choose Stefan or Damon in this episode, or did you always agree that it would be Stefan?
Julie Plec: We were heading toward the end of the road knowing that as a human, Stefan was Elena's choice. We also knew what was going to happen at the end of the episode. Elena is no longer a human when she wakes up and when the memories come back and when her whole life goes upside-down. Who's to say what that does to her? Who's to say what kind of person she becomes, and how that impacts who she loves and why she loves them? I'm not saying that's going to send her running instantly into Damon's arms, absolutely not, but it's going to cloud the issue even more.
