Lost and Found Chapter Three
I slept well last night. Dad didn't get drunk enough to beat me which I was thankful for. I still had to go to school which I didn't like. But all kids have to go to school. I didn't see Jeremy in any of classes. I wonder were he was. Was he okay?
As I sat outside for lunch, I saw Stephan sitting with Elana Glibert who was Jeremy's sister. I wondered if she really knew who Stephan was.
I sat there and watched them smile and laugh. I wished I had someone to do that with.
Out of the blue Stephan's brother Damon came over to him. Stephan didn't look to thrilled to be seeing Damon at school.
Is that Victoria Salvator over there. Damon said as I read his lips.
Stephan looked over in my direction. Damon started to move this way. So I got up and started walking in the opposite direction. I went towards the in door cafe. Trying to get away from Damon.
Victoria wait up! Damon called.
I looked behind me, Damon wasn't far.
What would he want? Blood? Well he wouldn't be getting any!
I got through the doors of the cafe but I couldn't rest yet, Damon was getting closer. Thankfully he couldn't use his vampire speed in public. As I looked behind me, I ran into my history teacher.
Sorry Mr. Alaric. I said.
Are you okay? He asked.
Um yeah. I said as I looked behind me.
Damon wasn't there! Where was he? Why did he go away? Did he know Mr. Alaric?
Victoria are you okay? He asked again as he wasn't buying it.
I cleared my throat and told him "I was fine" with a somewhat believable smile on my face.
I'm not buying it. He said.
He knew why I was late to class sometimes and why I always wore long sleeves in the hot summer.
'Scuse me? I asked confused.
Come on I'll buy you something to eat and you can tell me what or who you were walking away from. He said.
No thank you, it's okay. I'm not hungry. I said as my stomach grumbled.
I gave a slight smile to him.
You may fool everyone else but you're not fooling me. He said.
Well you know more about something than you tell us about. I said.
Touché. Mr. Alaric smiled.
What do you know about Stephan and Damon Salvator? I asked.
I know that Stephan just moved back into town. He said. Why do you asked?
I don't know; I was just wondering. I shrugged.
Are you related to Stephan? Mr. Alaric asked.
Umm yeah, some how. I said.
How well do you know them? He asked.
As I looked him in the eye, I could tell he was hiding something. Something told me that it was a dark secret. He had to know about them being vampire, he just had too. What else could it be.
As well as you do Mr. Alaric. I said smiling.
How do you know? He asked.
I'm a Salvator, I know this stuff. I said seriously. And dad talks about it when he's drunk. I laughed.
But how do you know it's true? He asked curious.
I saw them when I was really young. Same age and everything. The puzzle piece fit together. I said.
Who were you running away from? Mr. Alaric asked.
Damon; Stephan's brother. I want nothing to do with them. Now it's your turn to answer question. I said.
Mr. Alaric nodded his head.
How do you know? I asked curously
