“I have had the privilege of meeting so many young girls that have visited set and I’m always blown away by their faces when they see the cape and the ’S’ and the whole costume and just how excited they are to be there. That is really moving and I always kind of….have to go to my trailer and cry a little bit.” — Melissa Benoist

“With regards to Lena, her relationship with Kara is the same type of thing. It’s where she can be vulnerable. Lena is not this CEO, this powerful woman. She’s not running all these companies. The great part of the friendship the two of them have, is it allows them to be vulnerable....There’s very few people that you can do that with. For Lena, it’s Kara. For Kara, it’s Lena, too.” — Katie McGrath on Kara and Lena’s relationship during season 3

“The great thing for Kara with Lena is Lena is almost Kara’s humanity. She doesn’t have to be Supergirl. She can be human, and she can be vulnerable, frail and weak and needy. If Lena knew Kara was Supergirl, she couldn’t be that any more. That’s so poignant this season because this year opened with Kara not wanting to be human any more. She’s like, “I am Supergirl.”” — Katie McGrath on Kara and Lena’s relationship during season 3

“[Chyler] is more than a badass! She’s my heart. [The relationship] is only going to grow. I think it’s the most important relationship on the show. We are exploring every facet of sisterhood: how women support each other, and how they understand each other. How they communicate, how they love, and how they fight. You are just going to see more and more of that and it’s really fulfilling to play those scenes.” — Melissa Benoist about Alex/Kara in season 2

Who else used to watch Smallville?
It just hit me like a freight train the other day! Laura Vandervoort who portrays Indigo in Supergirl was actually playing Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in Smallville. How cool is that?!!! That's why she seemed familiar to me!

“I'm not Superman's cousin. I'm Supergirl. And if I'm going to be defined, it's going to be by my victories and my losses. No one else's.” — Kara Zor-El in Fight or Flight (S1E03)

“My mother didn’t send me to Earth to fall in love with a human, have children, live in a house with a white picket fence. She sent me here to protect Kal-El. And now, I will use my powers to protect the Earth. And If I die achieving that, I’m at peace with it. I’ll join my mother. We’ll be together in Rao’s light.” — Kara Zor-El in Better Angels (S1E20)

This show is amazing! :D The characters are so complex and multi-dimensional, and so far (out of the ones I've seen) I've enjoyed every episode's storyline. I just love it so much!

“She’s so easy to hang out with and we just click really well. She’s my favorite person to do scenes with. I’m not ashamed to say that, and I’m sorry to everyone else. [Laughs] I love working with Chyler and it really is this unbreakable bond already” — Melissa Benoist about working with Chyler Leigh
