Part 11! WOW! Seems like that only yesterday I was thinking of doing this story. Oh, how the time does fly! Anyway....I'm gonna story now. :3 Hope you likey! :D
I couldn't believe what had happened only a few mere hours ago. Chris had found out me and Noah were secretly dating, and.....I didn't know if that was good. Despite my troubled mind, I was somehow able to find sleep. Of course, it was only minutes later when the freakign PA system clicked on.
"Alright everyone, rub the sand out of your eyes, and go to the Mess Hall and get your breackfast on!" Chris announced happily. The PA system once again clicked off, and the normal morning rutine unfolded. Trent and Owen did there morning grunts, changed into clean clouthes, and went outside. As soon as the two left the cabins, Noah hopped out of his bed, and climbed up into mine. I couldn't help but smile, and pill Noah into a hug. He hugged back, but we soon seperated a locked eyes.
"Hey Codester." Noah greeted warmly, giving me a quick kiss. "Sleep well?" my smile faded, and I got a worried look.
"No, not really." I admitted. "I....I was to busy worrying about Chris finding out. I mean....is it a good thing or a bad thing? And...what if he tells the world we're dating? Noah, our families would be so pissed. And....I just don't anything bad to happen to you." Noah laughed lightly, and pulled me into another quick kiss.
"Cody, I'm sure Chris would tell the world if we did something he didn't like." Noah explained. "Besides, even if he does tell, I'm sure we'd be able to talk it out with our familes. There's nothing to worry about Cody; I promise I have everything under control." I stared at Noah for a minute - trying to detect any hint of sarcasim, but found none. I nodded, and hugged Noah tightly. Noah hugged me back, and, for a moment, it felt like we were the only people on earth. After a moment of holding onto eachother like it was the last time we'd be able to do so, we relunctantly seperated. We then hopped off the bed, and went into the Mess Hall. We then got in the back og the line, and waited like everyone else to get our food. Once we got there, Chef plopped a huge wad of something gray onto Noah's plate. (I had let him get ahead og me in line) "Uh....what is this?" Noah asked, staring at the food in horor.
"Today's breackfast, is a Hawian, Italian fusen casarole!" Chef anounced, putting a bendy straw into the glob in Noah's plate. Chef then handed Noah his tray, and the Indian-Canadian teen got a smirk.
"You mean left-overs - from the cooking challenge." Noah stated.
"Yeah, thats right!" Chef barked like a old Marine drill instructor. "You got a problem with that?!" Chef asked as he gave Noah a death glare. Noah's eyes showed pure terror, and, instead of giving a usual sarcastic remark, gave a solute to Chef.
"Sir, no sir!" Noah replied, sounding just like someone who has been in the military for a long time. Chef gave a suprised look, but then saluted Noah back. Noah then put his arm down, and hurried off to out team's tabel. I then quietly got my food, and went to the tablel as well. I notied Noah had saved a spot for me, and was poking at the supposed casarole. I smiled, and obediantly took the seat next to him.
"So, I never knew you were scared of Chef." I stated teasingly. Noah then blushed, and looked away in emmbaresment.
"I'm not!" Noah defended. "I just....really......respect him for defending our country." sure he does! I just rolled my eyes playfully, and started to poke my 'casarole' along with Noah. Across to tabel, Heather p who was wrapped in a bulky blanket - sneezed, and sniffled.
"Need a little, ekenasha?" Gwen - who was sitting in the other side of Noah - asked.
"Oh, your so funny." Heather hissed, sounding a little conjested. "You think that you can just lock me up in a freezer and get away with it!" actually, the funny thing is.....we kinda did. "I'm gonna make you sorry you ever meet me!" beside me, I saw Noah roll his eyes.
"To late." Gwen pretended to whisper to Noah - at a vlume that Heather could probably hear.
"You are such a...a.." Heather began, but was stopped by a massive sneeze. She then groaned and snifled again. "Ugh, I hate this place!" uh....I thought we all did. Noah rolled his eyes once more, and did something very brave - he picked up his fork, got a huge thing if 'casarole', and shoved it into his mouth.
"How is it?" I asked, concerned Noah might have gotten some kind of food poisining. Noah chewed the 'casarole' completly, and then swallowed it.
"It's....actually not that bad." Noah replied. He then picked up another thing of 'casarole', and started to eat it. I gave the casarole a distrusting look, but decided to try it anyway. I then put a fork full of the gray glob into my mouth, and....I had to admit, it wasn't the wirst that I've had. In fact...I might dare say it was eat-able. Me and my team actually ate in silence for awhile, and it was kinda nice. Underneath the table, I felt Noah's hand slowly touch mine. I smiled slightly, and, before I knew it, we had out hands intertwined under the table. There was a couple more minutes of silence, but then Chris had to spoil it by walking into the Mess Hall - a devious grin on his rating-obsessed face.
"Well hello there campers." Chris greeted, still smirking evily. "I hope your all ready for today's challenge, which, is gonna be staring in precisly three minutes, hehe! So, finish up your breakfast, and meet me at the docks!" with that, Chris went out side. People quickly ate the rest of the gray casarole, handed in their trays to Chef, and went to the docks. Ech team got into a cluster, and before long, Chris was there to greet us. "So, last weeks challenge exposed a few Gopher issues." Chris stated as Heather glared at Gwen and Noah, who were glaring right back. "And I'm scencing something funky floating in the Bass pond." on the other team, I saw Harold give Duncan a glare, and the delequinet returned it without hesitation. "So, this weeks challenge is gonna be centered around building trust. Because, all good things begin with a little trust." uh....isn't hard work that usually starts good things? "There will be three major challenges that will have to be completed by two or more members of your team. Normally, we like to have the campers choose their partners, but not this time!" well, someones gonna get majorly hurt today. "More fun for me, hehe! So, I want you all to follow me to the cliffs for your first trust-building challenge!" Chris then started to walk away, and everyone followed. On the way, Noah walked beside me, and slyly wrapped his hand in mine.
"Nervous about the challenge's?" I asked Noah in a low whisper.
"No, because....if I'm paired with you, I know I'm with someone I can trust." Noah replied, smiling. I blushed, and smiled back. Unfortunatly, when we got to the cliffs, we had to let go of eachothers hand. Shortly after we got to the cliffs, Chris stopped, and turned to face us.
"Okay, for the first challenge, you'll be doing an extreme, free-hand rock climbing adventure!" huh...sounds fun. "DJ and Duncan will play for the Bass, Heather and Gwen for the Gophers." a couple people down, I heard Gwen groan. Chris then brought a harnest, and a rope with some hooks already on it. "Heres your valley, and harnest." Chris announced, throwing the materials to the players. Gwen had all ready caught the climbing gear, but Heather came in front of her, and basically snatched it from her.
"Hey, whats your damage?!" Gwen hissed.
"If you think I'm letting you hold me up, your nuts." Heather replied, sticking her nose high into the air.
"You won't be holding her up exactly." Chris interjected. "One camper pulls the slack through the valley as their partner climbs. If their partner falls, the valley will stop them fro crashing. The catch? Both the side and the base of the mountain are riged with a few minor distracktions." wait....what's his definition of minor? "Like rusty nails, oil slicks, mild explosives, and....a few other suprises!" wow....I'd hate to see what he thinks a major distracion is.
"Wicked!" Harold exclaimed in aw.
"The person on the valley must also harnest their partner up. It's all about trust peopl!" Chris reminded everyone as Gwen and Heather gave one another death glares. "Remember, never let go of the rope! Your partners life, depends on it!" yeah....Gwen's a goner.
"Excuse me, can we trade partners?" Gwen asked, raising her hand. "I really don't feel like being dropped on my head today." Heather then rolled her eyes, and held up her hand.
"Please, as much as I love your company, I'm not gonna throw a challenge just to kill you." Heather scoffed, and added: "Yet. Now spread em'!" Gwen rolled her eyes, and did as she was told. In minutes, Gwen, Heather, Duncan, and DJ were all strapped up. I couldn't help but notice Heather had a second rope on the harnest, and Gwen, who apparently noticed it to, gave Heather a distrusting look.
"Whats the second rope for?" Gwen asked Heather, distrust showing in her voice.
"It's a back-up line." Heather explained, smirking evily.
"What are you smiling about?" Gwen asked, giving Heather yet another distrust-full look. Heather then smiled innocently, and smiled wider.
"Nothing." Heather replied, still smiling innocently. "I'm just really happy we got on this challenge toggether." Gwen gave Heather one last distrusting look, and then went to the side of the mountain with DJ. The two got into climbing position, and waited for Chris's instrutions.
"Ready....set.....climb!" Chris announced. The two then started to slowly climb up the side of the jagged cliff. Gwen started to use the small ledges in the cliff to climb, and easily passed DJ. Despite her doing so well, an explosion went off not to far away from the climbing goth. Soon, another explosion went off, and this time, it was actually was where Gwen was. Gwen was flung off, and fell a good lengeth down the cliff before Heather pulled the rope and stopped her.
"It's okay, I got you!" Heather called out as Gwen clung to the rope for dear life.
"I promised suprises!" Chris exclaimed into the camera. "Jopenuerao peper sauce anyone?!" Chris the pulled put a squirt gun, and aimed it at Heather. He then started doucing Heather in thei red, thick liquid.
"Ugh, what the heck Chris?!" the diva hissed. She then took her hands off the rope to wipe the hot saue away from her eyes, and Gwen started to fall. She landed with a thud, and as soon as she did, Heather got this 'Oh. Crap' exression.
"Mio calieta!" Chris exclaimed. He then shot a smile to the camera, and you could practically see them sparkle. Beside me, I heard Noah sigh in annoyance.
"Could this get anymore childish?" Noah asked. I momentariy thought about it, and shook my head no. Chris then aimed the gun to Duncan, and started to spray him with hot sauce. Of course, the deliquent was cleverly wearing red shades, and wasn't affected by it. In face, he turned, and opened his mouth - making the hot sauce go directly into it. Chris realised this, and stopped squirting Dincan.
"Is that the best you can do?" Duncan asked in amusment.
"Is that the best we can do?!" Chris asked frantically to a nearby camera man. The camera guy shiik his head, and Chris groaned in frustraction. Thankfully, by that time, Gwen had gotten up, and was bak to climbing the cliff. She must be part monkey, because she was neck-n-neck with DJ in no time. She had just gotten a little ahead of the gentle giant when I saw Heather get a devilish smirk.
"Come on Gwen!" Heather called out. "You don't wanna fall....behind!" with that, Heather gave the supposed back-up rope a strong tug, and off came Gwen's black skirt - revealing purple panties with a blck skull sewn onto them. My jaw dropped, and I didn't know weather to stare or laugh at the sight. Gwen's skirt landed on DJ's face, and Gwen yelped in suprise - just know realizing her skirt was missing.
"Well.....you don't see that every day." I heard Duncan state to Chris as he stared at Gwen's purple underwear.
"No....you don't my man. No you don't." Chris replied, sounding a little lovestruck. God, what a pervert! I then saw DJ take off the skirt, and accidentally get an eye-full of Gwen's underwear. I saw a blush appear on the gentle giants face, and he got a suprised look. He then let go of the rock, and came plumiting to earth. I then saw the rope get tangled around Duncans foot, and he got was sent up as the giant went down. The two soon colided, and they crashed together a few times before just dangling uselessly. They exchanged a few words, but I could make out what they were saying. All eyes then went to Gwen - waiting to see what she would do. The goth looked at her torne skirt - which she snaged just as DJ was falling - and got a 'oh, just screw it' look.
"Ah....skip it!" the goth exclaimed. She then put the skirt in her mouth, and climbed the rest of the mountain.
"Looks like the Gophers have one the first challenge." Chris stated as Gwen made it to the top. She smiled, and threw her arms up in victory. Of course, she put then down again, and used the shreded skirt to cover her panties - a blush coming across her face. "Alright Gwen, go get some pants on, hehe! Okay, I'm gonna need....Geoff, Bridgett, Noah and Trent to meet me in the dining area in six minutes for a intence cooking challlenge!" wait....didn't we already have one of those? Chris then walked off, and I was followed by Geoff, Bridgett, Trent, and Noah. Of course, I grabed Noah's arm before he was completly out of veiw.
"Hey, good luck in the challenge." I whispered to Noah. Said know it all just gave me a blank look, and said nothing. "Noah....is everything-"
"Cody, do you still like Gwen?" Noah asked, cutting me off. A deep blush came across my cheeks, and I couldn't believe what Noah was asking me. I mean....yeah, I had a crush on Gwen. but....that was over. I was with Noah, and.....I loved him.
"Noah, why would you ask me that?" I asked in concern.
"Because....I know you liked her from the start, and.....seeing her underwear might've brought back old feelings." Noah explained. At first I thought he was joking, but....the look of pure sadness told me he wasn't.
"Noah....I like you now. Sure I liked Gwen frm the start, but....I'm with you now. And nothing is gonna change how I feel about you." I reasured him. Noah gave a relieved smile, and did a very blod thing. He took ahold of my wrists, and pulled me into a quick kiss before hurrying off to the Mess Hall. I stood there, shocked by what he just did. I mean....who knew Noah could be spontanious. I touched my lips with the tips of my fingers, and smiled. Even though it was only a short kiss....it felt incerdible. I then walked back to the cabins, sat on the steps, and started pationtly waiting for Noah to return. As I waited, Gwen hurried into the girls side - holding her ripped skirt to hide her panties. I only glanced at her before going back to looking into the distance where Noah went.
I once again touched my lips, and smiled - I could still feel Noah's touching them.
'Well...this is akward.' I thought as me and Trent sat in silence. Chris had instructed us both to go below the Mess Hall, and stand on the plat-form till we were brought up for he challenge. Don't get me wrong, I didn't have anything against Trent, but....I just never wanted to talk to him for soome reason.
"So....we're working together." Trent announced, probably trying to break the silence that had built between us.
"Yep." I replied. The silence once again took over, and, for some reason, I didn't mind. Truthfully, I was to busy thinking about my talk with Cody, and how it ended with me kissing hom before running off to the Mess Hall. I honestly don't remember why I did it, all I know is....I wanted to kiss Cody so I did. Pretty soon, the plat-forms rose, and we were staring at the pair of Geoff and Bridgett from across the room. Then, someone fliped behind the podeum, and Chris popped up in their place - acting as if he was the one flipping through the air.
"And now, round two!" Chris exclaimed. "The extreme cooking challenge!" as CHris was announcing this, someone crawled out from behind the podeum. Me, Trent, Geoff, and Bridgett all watched as the teen crawled through the Mess Hall, and out the back door. Alright....that was random. "Each team must choose whi cooks, and who eats." Chris explained. Geoff and Bridgett faced eachother, and me and Trent did the same.
"So, since I was out the last cooking match....how about I do the cooking?" Trent sugested with a bit of a smile.
"Eh, sure." I replied blandly. I mean....it's just cooking. What could possiby happen right?
"Okay, since both teams have picked their chefs, it's time to announce what they'll be cooking!" Chris exclaimed. "So, todays you'll be preparing Fugu Shushimi. The traditional Japanese posinous bloat fish." wait.....the traditional Japanese what?! Chef then wheeled in a tank with two red, terrified looking fish inside. "The Fugu blow-fish contains enough lethal toxin to kill....thirty people." oh life, WHY do you hate me?! Chef then playfully tapped on the tank, and both fish bloated up in fear. He then grabbed them by the tail, and brought then out if the tank.
"Fishes....meet your makers!" please tell me that was no pun intendeed. He then threw the fish onto the cutting board, and they made a squishing sound when they landed.
"They must be sliced very carefully to cut around the poisonus organs." Chris explained kinda softly. "The poisen paralyzes the nerves, and, there is no antidote! So...no worries!" oh god get me out of here! Trent must've seen the terrified look I had, because he patted my back reasuringly.
"No worries dude, I took biolagy." oh...that actually good news!
"Really?" I asked in suprise. "Well....thats reasuring to know that you passed biolagy." Trent then gave me a confused look.
"What? I didn't pass, but I have gotten close to!" well....better start writing my last will and testement then. "Relax, it was only by two point's! Plus, I always did good on disection day!" eh....still gonna write my will, just in case.
"Begin!" Chris interected. Trent wet straight to work on the fish. I looked over, and saw Geoff was the one sitting out. After a half hour, Chris announced it was time to have the tasters tast the dishes. Trent had made some kind of shrimp looking thing with our fish, while Bridgett had made sushi. The Bass were first, and Geoff wasn't at all hseitant to put the sushi in his mouth. After ha had chewed, and given a minute, he smiled and gave a thumbs up.
"Excelence!" Geoff announced. I then saw a little bunny rabut hop onto Geoff's tabel, and look at Geoff happily. Chris and Chef, (who were watching from inside the podeum) then turned to me and Trent. Trent pushed the plate of the sushi-like creation to me, and smiled.
'Eat up dude!" Trent commanded proudly. I gave the shrimp one last distrusting look before I picked it up, and shoved it into my mouth. I chewed it slowly, and swallowed carefully. I then waited for something to happen, but it didn't. I smiled, and Trent got a relieved expression. I was about to open my mouth to say something, but....I then heard my stomach gurgle loudly. Suddenly....it was hard to breath, and the room seemed like it was spinning. I started to claw frantically at my throat, but it did nothing. Soon, I felt my legs go numb, and I crumbled to the floor. I started making all these gagging sounds, and I had a feeling everyone was staring at me. I was able to grab the edge of the table, and get myself back up on my feet."Huh.....I guess I didn't cut out the poison." Trent semi-laughed but with terror in his voice. Another series of gagging sounds escaped my throat, and I could no longer feel from the waist down. I once again fell over, and, this time when I hit the floor, a trail of vomit leaked out of my mouth. My arms and legs started to twitch irratically, and I was starting to lose consciousness.
"No worries." Chris annonced to the people that had crowded around me. "Give him twent-four hours, and he'll be up walking and breathing as good as new." Chris explained. Everything was spinning now, and I my vision was beginning to fade in and out.
"Uh....is anybody gonna help this guy?!" Geoff shreiked. I was barely breathing now, and I could no longer fell my twitching arms or legs. A whole bunch of memories flashed before my eyes, and.....they were all of me and Cody. Guilt overwhelmed me, and I realized....I might've kissed Cody for the last time. Of course, Chef - who as now in a nurses outfit - came over to me, and started to give me mouth-to-mouth recessitation. I was momentarily repulsed by Chef's lips being on mine, but....it was quickly forgotten when my breathing regulated slightly. As he continued to give me CPR, I felt myself officialy losing conciousness. I slowly closed my eyes, and gave into the blackness.
Before I passed out, I thought this last thing: 'Cody...I'm so sorry for letting this happen.' With that, my whole world went black.
'I hope he comes back soon.' I thought as I continued to wait on the cabin steps for Noah. I was all alone because my team had gone off to the beach or something to past the time before he next challenge, but I really just wanted to stay here and wait for Noah. Of course, I didn't say I wanted to wait for him - I just said I wanted to get a tan from the cabin. Somehow, everyone bought it, and left me all alone to wait on the cabin steps. It had been awhile since Chris and his selected group left for the Mess Hall, and I was really starting worry about Noah's safety. 'I'm just over-reacting.' I told myself. 'I mean.....it's only cooking. What could have possibly gone wrong?' now that I think about it....just about anything.
"Hey Gophers!" Chris exclaimed, walking up to our cabins. "Or should I say Gopher, hehe. Anyway, we're all done with the cooking challenge." I got a huge smile, and stood up to greet Noah. Of course....the only one following him was Trent. I felt my smile disappear, and I got a sad look.
"Chris....where's Noah?" I asked in concern.
"Oh...Noah?" Chris asked, sounding a little amused. "Trent just fed him poisoned fish and now he's in the medical tent pucking his brains out, hehe!" wait......what?!
"He was fed what?!" I asked in utter shock of what I just heard.
"Don't worry, it's just a little twenty-four hour paralysis." Chris explained, trying to sound reassuring. "Nothing to serious, hehe. Although, if he had even a drop more of the fishes poison, it would've killed him! Just sucks that Trent cut out most of the poison. I mean, I know we would've gotten sued, but having someone actually DIE on the show would be epic!" oh god.....I need to get to Noah before these physico kill him for ratings!
"I want to see him." I stated very seriously.
"Oh, uh.....he's not allowed to have visitors till later, but I guess if your lucky, I could let you see him, say, tommorow at-" Chris began.
"You don't understand, I want to see him....now!" I restated, putting emphasis on the word now. Chris got a shocked look, but it soon faded and he got a sly, poker face-looking expression. Much like the one people use when they have a good hand, and are trying to raise the winnings.
"Hey, no need to get upseat. I promise I'll have you see him, say, around ten tonight?" Chris offered. I then narrowed my eyes, and crossed my arms.
"Let me say this one last time, I want to see him now." I replied in a voice I didn't know could make. "In fact, I am gonna see him, and theres nothing you can do to stop me!" with that, I quickly dashed off, and headed for the medical tent. Once I finally got there, my eyes widened at the sight in front of me. There was Noah; lying on a hospital-like bed with blue looking skin, and he making little gasping noises - as if it were hard for him to breath. And to make matters worse, I saw a trail of puke mixed in with a little blood dribbling down his chin. He was asleep, but....it didn't make what I saw any more pleasent.
"Yo, scrawnier than scrawny kid, your not supposed to be here." Chef growled at me - an empty syringe in his hand. I just continued to stare wide eyed at Noah, but I was somehow able to nod my head. At that moment, Chris came running into the tent.
"There you are dude!" Chris exclaimed, panting slightly. "man, you run fast! Anyway, it's time for the next challenge, so.....yeah." Chris then grabbed me by my arm, and started to pull me out of the medical tent. I really wanted to put up a fight and stay, but....my heart couldn't take seeing Noah like that. Chris continued to drag me until we were in some sort of clearing - where everyone else also waited. Chris then threw me in with my team, and went to the center of the groups. "Okay, we have everyone who is able to play hear now." Chris announced, a slight smirk on his face. "So, good news, the third round involves three more challenges. It's.....the three blind challenges. It begins with the blind William Tell, followed by the blind trapies, and combination in the treacherous, blind toboggan race. So....lets get started!" I saw Geoff sneak away out of the corner of my eye, but....I didn't really care. The image of Noah in the hospital bed was burned into my mind. I tried to forget the image, but....it was gonna be with me for awhile. Chris then went over to DJ, put an arrow atop his head, and went back to the center. "Like legendary marksman William Tell, you'll be knocking arrows off your partners head with Crab Apples." Chris explained as he took out a apple.
"Um....wasn't it the other way around?" Courtney asked with a know it all tone of voice.
"Shush!" Chris hissed. "Also, the shooter will be blind folded!" I heard DJ gasp, and the people around him moved a couple of steps away. Chris then put on the blind fold, and readied his apple - which he was firing with the help of a sling shot. "The person, who knocks off the arrow while causing least amount of facial damage, wins." with that, Chris let the apple go. It hit DJ square in the area where guys DON'T wanna get hit with crab apples. The gentle giant let out a cry of pain, and sank to his knees. "Aw, nuts!" Chris groaned. "Cody and Owen, you'll be one team; Courtney and Katie, you'll be the other." wait....I'm a shooter? Well...at least it'll keep me distracted for a bit.
"I'm violentely allergic to apples." Harold announced. Chris shrugged, and ignored the super-nerds comment.
"Oh, let me shoot!" Katie begged. "I'm a good shot!" well....good for you.
"You'd better be." Courtney sighed out. I turned to Owen, and the jolly Canadian handed me the sling and apples. I nodded, and went to the shooting point. I was then promptly blind folded by Chris, and I readied my apple. "Okay, lets rock and roll!" Chris announced. With that, I let go of the first apple. I didn't hear that I won, so I kept firing the apples - which were thankully in a little bag beside us. The sounds of breaking apples, and Courtney's small cries of pain was all I could hear. My mind started to think of Noah, so I doubl timed the apples. I was now firing two at a time - each one breaking by the sound of it. Finally, I decided to shoot just one, and, after I let go, I didn't hear a breaking noise.
"Did I get a bull's eye?" I asked, lifting up my blind fold to get a peak at Owen. I saw that his arrow had been knocked off his head, and had a apple wedged onto it.
"I've got her this time!" Katie announced, reading another apple.
"Cody one already!" Chris called out. Of course, Katie fired anyway. Just as she was firing, Courtney opened her mouth for an insult most likley, but was stopped as the arrow hit her square in the head - causing her to sway back and fourth. Katie continued to fire, and, in no time, I was sure she had hit almost everything in camp. Before she could get another apple, Chris ran up, and grabbed her shoulders. "Katie, man, it's over!" Chris shreiked. "Let it go!" Katie faintly blushed, and lifted her blind fold up.
"Opps....sorry." Katie mumbled sheepisly. Courtney was now swaying more, and I had just noticed how beat-up her ace looked.
"Your....going down." Courtney mumbled as she continued to sway. She then let out a moan of pain, and fell backwards onto the grass. Trent wwas the first to come running to her side, and he held her hed up lightly.
"Uh.....guys, she needs medical care." Trent announced as her wiped away some blood from a forming bruise on Courtney's fore-head.
"Her too?!" Chris shreiked, intertwining his fingers in his hair. "Man, thats the second one today! I seriously could our medics could handle it, but....we could get sued if we don't. Ugh, fine, you take her to the medical tent Trent." Chris commanded. Instantly, I saw a window of opportunity to see Noah again, and I decided to take it.
"I can help!" I announced, raising my hand. Chris gave me a distrusting look, but then sighed heavily.
"Fine, but be quick!" Chris hissed. me and Trent both nodded, and we turned our attention on Courtney. Trent quickly grabbed her shoulder's, and I got her feet. We then carefully carried Courtney all the way to the medical tent, and set her down in a bed. I couldn't help but look over at Noah, and I notice he looked a lot better. He didn't look so blue, and the puke mixed with blood was no longer on his chin. I smiled at his recovery, and was glad he looked better.
"Whats with this one?" Chef - who was getting ready to serve Noah soup through a tube - asked in annoyance.
"She got hit on the head with a crab apple.....multiple crab apples actually." Trent exlained.
"Alright, I'll see what I can do." Chef mumbled. He then got up, got a gauze from a nearby first-aid kit, and turned his attention to us. "Alright guitar boy, your free to go. As for you, skrawnier than scrawny kid, I'm gonna need you to feed scrawny kid there soup through this tube, got it?!" I immediately felt joy run through me, but I had to mask it with disappointment.
"But....what about the challenge?" I asked, pretended to be real upset.
"Eh, I'll write an excuse or something." Chef replied shrugging. he then walked over to Courtney - muttering something about not getting paid enough for this. I smiled, and turned to Noah. I quickly piked up the tube with soup, and gently placed the tube in Noah's slightly open mouth. Luckliy, since I volunteered a lot at the hospital right before summer started, I knew exactly how to use the feeding tube. At first, I was worrried Noah wouldn't drink it, but to my great releif, he did - subconsciously of course. After the soup was all finished, I took the tube out of Noah's mouth, and placed it aside. I looked over at Courtney, and saw she was all gauzed up. Chef then opened his mouth to probably tell me I could go now, but, before he could, Heather came storming in - a huge jelly fish wrapped around her head.
"I can't believe I trusted that little-" Heather began, but was got cut off by the jelly fish shocking her. "Ow! Nasty, stinging, jelly fish!" Heather muttered, once again getting shocked. She then stomped to a nearby bed, and plopped loudly down on it. It must've been louder than what I thought, because as soon as she did, Courtney sprang up.
"What?" Courtney asked in confusion. "Where an I?" Heather then sent her a glare, and folded her arms.
"Your in the infirmary." Heather mumbled. She then turned her glare to Chef. "Got anything for removing....jelly fish?" said jelly fish once again shocked her, and Chef nodded. Heather gave a thumbs up, and fell back onto the bed.
"Welp, looks like I'm working over-time." Chef grumbled. "Alright, heres the thing, we all need to be at the hill by the end of the toboggan race. Miss. Goody goody, you get to go back to camp. Bossy, you get a jelly fish removal, and scrawnier than scrawny kid, you need to watch scrawny kid till bossy's gets her jelly fish removed.
"Uh, hello! I can hear you!" Heather hissed right before she got shocked once more. Chef shrugged, sent Courtney on her way back to the others, and Chef went over to Heather's bed, and enclosed it with a curtain. I then turned my gaze to Noah, and stared at his sleeping form for a bit. I noticed his breathing was completely back to normal, and his skin was no longer blue. I gently gave him a quick kiss on the lips, and started to gently stroke his thick, suprisingly soft hair. Aside from the occasional scream from Heather, it felt as if Noah and I were all alone on the tent. I continued to stare at him, and....after a couple of minutes, his eyes began to slowly open. I smiled widley, and watched as Noah's eyes came all the way open.
"Hey Noah, how you feeling?" I asked. Noah stared at me blankly, and said nothing. He continued to stare at me, but, after a moment or two, he finally replied.
"Who...who are you?" Noah asked. My smile instantly faded, and I swear my heart broke into little tiny pieces. Did....Noah just ask me......who I was?!
"Noah....it's me." I replied, hoping Noah would remember.
"Uh........me who?" Noah asked before giggling stupidly. I got a suprised look, and searched Noah's eyes for sarcasim or playfull intensions. I then felt tears swell in my eyes. I grabbed Noah by the shoulders, and started to shake him.
"This isn't funny Noah!" I sobbed out. "If your messing with me, please cut it out." I then stop shaking Noah, and the tanned teen continued to giggle stupidly.
"Thats was fun!" Noah exclaimed through his laughter. Oh dear god, the poison must've caused Noah to go all three year-old! Now the real Noah, the one I fell for, is gone. And....there wasn't any way to get him back! I then pulled Noah into a hug, and sobbed into his shoulder.
"Noah....I'm so sorry this happened!" I cried out. "It should've been me!" I continued to hug Noah for awhile, but I finally released him. A few minutes later, Chef and a jelly fish free Heather came out of the closed in bed.
"Whats with you?" Heather asked me snappishly. I wiped a few tears from my cheeks, and turned to her.
"Heather....I'm afraid the real Noah is....gone forever!" I explained before breaking into heavy sobs. Heather only raised a eye brow and shrugged before she quickly exited the tent. Chef then gave me a confused look, crossed over to me, and pushed me aside.
"Shesh scrawnier than scrawny kid, he's only on a little pain killer." Chef grumbled, putting a brace onto Noah's neck. "I gave him a big dose of it to help him sleep. I guess he's still a little tipsy from it. Oh well, he should be fine by tomorrow." Chef then plopped Noah into a wheel chair, and pushed it into me. "Here, since your so concerned about him, you wheel him back!" with that Chef stormed out. I got a deep blush, and followed Chef. Once I got to where he was headed, I saw everyone was in groups of their own teams. I silently wheeled Noah to our team, and stood silently.
"And the Bass are the winners of the taboggan race!" Chris announced, causing the Bass to erupt in cheering. "Unfortunately, I said that these were blind challenges. By taking off the blind fold for a moment, you broke the number one rule. Which makes the Gophers today's big winners!" my whole team erupted into cheer. Even Noah gave a enthusiatic wo-ho. "Alright everyone, thats it for today. Gophers, you all go and get some well deserved rest. As for the Bass, I'm afraid I'm gonna be seeing your sorry tails at the camp fore tonight." Chris then walked off, and my team headed to our cabin. As I wheeled Noah to the cabins, most all of the team said hi in passing. Once we finally got to the cabins, I helped Noah out of his chair, and into bed. The tanned teen immediantly fell asleed, and I couldn't help but watch him. I know Chef said he'd be better tommorow, but....I was scared that, somehow, he was gonna be all tipsy and childish for the rest of his life.
"Cody." someone mumbled from behind me. I turned to see none other than Trent standing in the door way. "Look man.....I know your worried about your friend, but, hey, Chef says he's gonna be fine." well....he did say that. I nodded my head, and I notied that it had gone completly dark outside. I then crawled into my bed on the top bunk, and snuggled into the sheets.
"Night Trent." I yawned as Trent slipped into his bed as well.
"Night dude." Trent replied. In an instant, the whole cabin was silent, and all three other boy's were fast asleep. I rolled over to the side of the bed that faced the window, and looked down at Noah. I noticed he had a smile as he slept, and....I swore I heard him mumbling my name as he dreamed. I smiled, and got back into my previous posotion. I once again snuggled into the sheets, and my eye lids quickly started to flutter shut. I was no longer worried about Noah, and I was certain he'd be okay.
Besides, as they say, tommorows a new day.
