If you’re a parent and you don’t have your kids watching Amazon’s original series link...then what are you thinkging?!
You’re missing a chance to show them that smart girls rock (and so do the boys that hang out with them).
Rising young star link stars in the series and has been rocking the red carpet lately earning award nomination after award nomination for his work. Most recently, the Canadian actor made his way to Los Angeles to attend the Daytime Emmy Awards – for which he was nominated for ‘Outstanding Performer in a Children's or Pre-School Children's Series’.
‘Annedroids’ will be premiering its Third Season this summer, so your kids have time to catch up on the first two seasons now.
We caught up with Jadiel Dowlin and had a chance to ask him some questions about working on this celebrated children’s show.
For anyone who hasn’t seen it, explain the premise behind 'Annedroids'.
JADIEL: Annedroids is about a genius girl scientist named Anne who lives in a junkyard, with a passion for building androids, robots and conducting science experiments. But soon she befriends some neighborhood kids (Nick and Shania) and the three go on awesome adventures, build even more androids, and learn lots about science through experiments!
What do you think is Nick’s best quality? Any bad ones?
JADIEL: Some of Nick’s best qualities would include his never ending hunger for adventure, finding solutions to Anne science problems, and how he doesn’t mind hanging out with two girls. Instead he looks past the surface and sees that they are some of the best friends a guy could ever ask for. But don’t be fooled, Nick also has some not so great qualities too. One is how he doesn’t look before he leaps; which has left him with many bruises, cuts, and scrapes over the years. And like many kids he also spends too much time playing video games instead of doing his homework or chores around the house.
Is there one episode or storyline that’s been your favorite so far?
JADIEL: One of my favorite episodes so far has been Jurassic Junkyard from Season 2 episode 8! In it, Nick has this recurring nightmare about carnivorous dinosaurs who are trying to eat him, but with the help of Anne and Shania he conquers his dream. I loved the episode because it was one filled with action, adventure, and a really cool standoff between a Giganotosaurus and our biggest android Hand. Plus I got to do a lot of neat stunts.
Any fun stories from the set you can share with us?
JADIEL: The experiments done on set were the most fun to film, especially when they didn’t go according to plan. During the beginning of the show we had to conduct an experiment using special ingredients to create pink foam. Expecting only a small chemical reaction to take place, the mixture bubbled up, and all of it exploded in Shania’s face! She was completely covered in the foam and wasn’t particularly pleased that we were laughing at her instead of offering help to clean her up!
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from working on this project?
JADIEL: That science can be fun if you let it be! The show has made science really appealable to kids by using cool storylines, androids, and robots to teach kids about the subject to younger viewers in an interesting way. But as an actor, I’ve learned that what you put into a performance is what you get out of it. All the long hours on set, learning lines late at night, and getting into character day after day really paid off. Had I had not done those things to the extent I did, I wouldn’t have been nominated for a Daytime Emmy. It goes to show that by taking pride in your job and doing it well without expecting any rewards, or awards, can be just as gratifying.
And, now just for fun:
Who’s your favorite actor/actress?
JADIEL: There are so many great actors and actresses to just name one. But I will say my favorite actor is Leonardo DiCaprio due to his versatility as an actor an ability to take on many different roles. My favorite actress is Taraji Henson. Just love her in movies and in Empire. We watch it as a family every week, she's fiery and brings a different character to Primetime TV.
What role from the past do you wish you could have played?
JADIEL: if I would bring a role from the past to the present, I would definitely be a role from the 70s TV shows. I watch reruns with my parents and the family values were so deep, plus lots of humour. That's why I liked working on Annedroids, it reminded me of those great shows.
Favorite movie or TV show.
JADIEL: My favorite movie is Man of Steel, second is the Dark Knight, and third is the Avengers! Notice the theme?! My favorite TV show is none other than Fresh Prince of Belair.
Tell us one thing that would surprise our readers to learn about you.
JADIEL: I learned to run before I walked! Before acting I competed in Track and Field and broke many records for my age group! I am also fluent in Spanish and a big comic book and superhero fan!
How can fans keep up with you?

Thanks Jadiel!
