When and how did you discover The Hunger Games?

My cousin is full on obsessed with the Hunger Games. She's read all the books I don't know how many times, watched the movie even more, etc. On her phone she has number of days until Catching Fire comes out, and used to have the number of days until The Hunger Games came out on DVD.
She told my I HAD to read the book and gave it to me. I started reading one afternoon and was up until 2:30 am on a school night reading it lol. Unfortunately I didn't finish it and then spent any spare second at school the next day trying to finish it.
I was hooked. I went and bought the Trilogy for myself and was able to convice my parents to let me rent the movie - LOVED IT - and bought the movie too ^^ And so now I am also obsessed with The Hunger Games.

I first head about The Hunger Games when I was a sophmore (I'm a senior now) and my mom told me about it because she thought it sounded interesting. When she described it I thought kids were thrown into one of those things gladiators fight in and fight each other and when they won they got food.

I remember reading the trilogy during Cahsee testing. A year later the movie came out.

Everything I read becomes a movie eventually.

well, when i saw the first trailer for the hunger games, i thought it was going to be a stupid movie but i ended up reading the books, which were given 2 me by my school's secretary, and now i love the hunger games so much it's like magic

I heard of it 1 year before the movie came out.
A classmate was describing a book she read and I got interested.
