The Mentalist is a crime-solving show, but with a twist. The show follows a team working for CBI (California Bureau of Investigation). The team consists of boss Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney), rookie agent Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) and agent's Kimball Cho (Tim Kang) and Wayne Rigsby (Owain Yeoman). Over the season now airing we have gotten to know these agents a little better, and they are very interesting to follow. However, the main character of the show is Patrick Jane (Simon Baker). He is a mentalist, and an ex psychic, turned investigator who helps the team solve crimes by using his remarkable skills of seeing things others miss. Patrick Jane is also somewhat of a prankster and always has some clever thoughtout plan to catch the bad guys. Usually his plans ends up getting his team in a bit of trouble ;)
Important to mention is that even tho every crime is solved within an episode, there is a bigger story behind it all, and without giving anything away, the reason why Patrick Jane joined the CBI in the first place is one of the things that keeps (at least me) coming back for more.
When you tune in to this show you can always expect some giggles and a bit of drama, excellent dialouge and good performances by the actors.
Every episode thus far has been very well written.
If you like crime solving but you are a bit tired of shows where all the action takes place in a lab or by busting down doors (CSI, NCIS etc etc) and you would like to see something different but still want the bad guy to go down in the end, then this is definatly a show worth watching.
