What Mephiles and I did yesterday...
In Australia, bush---
I stared up at the collosal tree, a stupid grin on my face.
The trunk was smooth, impossible to get a grip on, and streached high into the light blue, cloudless sky.
The sun beat down on my black fur as I readied myself for this challenge.
"I dunno, Rebecca... This seems like a bad idea..." Mephiles, the reformed guy I met awhile ago, and now my best friend, scolded me.
I rolled my eyes.
"Meph, I've never fallen out of a tree yet, and I've been climbing stuff since I was, like, 6 months old." No lies there, I had an impressive record. And even if I did, it wasn't like I didn't have co-ordination good enough to land on my feet.
Running around, dodging missles and laser-beams, and avoiding obstacles at the speed of sound really does improve co-ordination and quick-thinking skills.
That I didn't have such a clean record in, but hey, no-one's perfect.
"I'm not sure..." Mephiles worried. "What if you fell?"
I ignored him, and looked up at the huge gum tree, searching for the nearest grip point.
I found it; a slight bump out of the trunk, about 5 meters up.
I tensed my muscles, readied myself, and-
- I leapt off the ground, nearly making it! I reached quickly upwards, and caught myself on it.
I sighed as I held on my one hand, then planted my feet on the smooth, barkless trunk.
I looked down at Mephiles, who stood there, hands on his hips.
"Show off. Just beacause YOU have arm strength." He said, sticking out his tongue, refering to his less-than-impressive physical power.
I laughed, and flipped myself around, so I was on a one-handed handstand on the tiny bumb.
"Careful!"
I lashed out with my left foot, and caught myself on a branch, then proceeded to flip around, and streach upwards.
I was now in the tree braches, and I crouched down into them, my heart thumping in my chest as I grinned and looked down at Mephiles, who now seemed like a tiny dot, a blemish on the bush ground.
"Rebecca!" he yelled. "Don't go any higher! That's dangerous!"
I rolled my eyes.
"Don't worry, Meph!It's fine!"
Even from my height, I could tell he was doubtful. I shrugged that off. If he didn't think I could do it, it didn't matter to me; I just liked climbing stuff, always have, always will.
I stepped up, testing each brach for weight, and made my way up.
"That's great!" Mephiles yelled. "Now can we go!?"
"No! I'm having fun!" I yelled back, now standing atop the collosal tree, looking out over the amazing veiw of the bush.
"Okay! You've climbed it, now how are you gonna get back down!?"
I blinked twice. I hadn't thought that far ahead. How was I going to get down?
"Uhhh... oh crap!" The brach below me snapped on a weak spot I hadn't noticed in the wood. "Aah!"
I smashed through several layers of braches and leaves, scrathing my face and arms.
I reached out with my right hand, and grabbed a sturdy branch, swung around in a circle, and crouched on it.
"You okay!?" Mephiles paniced. "Did you hurt yourself!?"
"Naw!" I said. "I'm tougher than that!"
Well, I was okay. I had taken worse beating than that.
Until, once again, the brach snapped.
This time, I was braced for it.
CCCCRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKKK!!!
"YA HOO!" I plummetted downwards in a spindash, and uncurled at the last second, bounced off a nearby Pine Tree, and performed a neat flip before landing squarely on my feet.
Mephiles sweatdropped.
"You truley are the most insane person I've ever known."
With this deep insight revealed to me, I shrugged and started walking off, knowing Mephiles would follow me; when it came to the bush, he really had no idea where he was going.
I internally laughed as, sure enough, I heard Mephiles' light footsteps trotting along after me.
"Well, this was fun." I said, rolling my eyes again. But I do roll my eyes a lot.
He sighed.
"Let's not do it tommorrow, right?
"Sure!"
