A very short review or opinion of my thoughts on the film Sucker Punch 2008. Sucker Punch is a British film unlike any other in that it is not a costume drama, not a rom com with a token American star and most definitely not a gangster movie. No, Sucker Punch is quite simply a no nonsense action comedy that delivers on both fronts although (it seems to me) on a very low budget. After sitting through the first twenty minutes, I'd have given up and switched off if it wasn't for the fact that Tom Hardy crops up in this at some point. So with enthused anticipation I held out and waited for him to appear. About three quarters of the way through I'd looked away for a few seconds and if it hadn't been for the fact that I instantly recognised his beautiful dulcet tones, I'd have quite literally blinked and missed it! Tom plays a be speckled, Scottish sounding mechanic and his only lines are "Right, there's your problem, no oil in the motor, well done, remarkable, end of problem, bingo". Next scene immediately after (to a guy sitting in his car) "Pop the hood, pop the hood". That's it.Tom is an amazing actor and probably the best acting in this film, the general storyline is good and I think with other equally adequate actors and maybe Guy Richie directing this would have been good but as I said, it seems pretty low budget and it shows. Oh well I only paid three quid for it at ASDA but that's an hour and thirty seven minutes I'll never get back (sorry an hour and thirty five,Tom's bit was good!).
