Twilight Movie Question

Bella Swan: Theres a flaw in the detail.

How is it that in ecplise, they stress how special Bella is because NO ONE's power is supposed to work on her... And yet Alice and Jasper's powers do.

In New Moon in the hall Bella tells jasper off (lamely) for controlling her mood. To start with I could understand Alice's power working but then she announed that she couldn't see werewolves in her visions... So why do their powers work - but no one elses?!

I'm pretty sure that it was a mental thing. I know that it was explained at some point in Breaking Dawn because otherwise I wouldn't have an answer.
It's something about the powers that effect her mind, or use the mind, don't work (because of her mental shield). For example: Edward, Aro, Jane. But those that use the body do. Jasper is body, Alice is body.

Emotions are controlled by the mind and the brain so Jaspers power is won't work. His effects your mood. - I could always understand Alice - until she returned in new moon and announced she couldn't see visions with the wolves in it
