A MONTH AGO......
“There you are monkey.” Jacobs black eyes peer at mine as he opens my closet door wider. “What are you doing in here?” I look up at him under my lashes and grin.
“Playing Hide and Go Seek?” I giggle.
Unfolded clothes surround me on the floor. Clothes that I had forgotten about, and that Mom was urging me to fold. Jacob bent down, grabbed me around the waist, and pulled me out of the pile and into his arms as if I weighed nothing.
