sapherequeen I'm not really digging the "Fan of It?" option being replaced by rating. I mean, it's taking me a while to get the hang of it. Whenever I see a contribution and try to...fan it (I guess that is the best way to say it, lol), it just stays grey. But for other contributions, it lets me rate it. That definitely confuses me. Also....and I'm sorry if this is an aggravating question....but was this new rating system added to reduce chances of people receiving medals? I mean, I'm aware that there were some situations where people were cheating for medals by having a group of their friends rate their things for them. Was the..."Fan of it?" option added to prevent that?

zanesaaomgfan ^ I agree with you. It does stink. I mean, fanning people is enough...fanning pictures and articles and links and videos? Too much FANNING!

misanthrope86 Have you guys read Cinders' article. It explains a lot about the new system. Basically, it was put in place to stop ratings trolls. Not really sure how it works with the medal system or medal whores though...

Folks, we're deciding the future direction of Fanpop, and one of the questions is if we should bring back five-star ratings to replace the "fan of it" button.

VRSOF hasn't been active due, in part, to the lack of a downvoting system . The "fan of it" button was part of a larger Internet trend towards simplifying voting, but it's entirely possible that it turned it down too far.
