Lionblaze padded into camp, his jaws full of prey. Dovewing was having a deep conversation with Foxleap across the clearing. Poppyfrost watched her kits tumble around, laughing and kicking up dust as they fought for the moss ball.
Icecloud sighed and sat down, her eyes flicking to the ground. "Why is everyone so happy and I'm not?" she thought misrably. Ever since Dovewing had been appointed as Lionblaze's apprentice and so on, their relationship had grown incredily, and Jayfeather had gotten involved too. She watched as Dovewing padded to the fresh kill pile, grabbed a rabbit, and took it over to Lionblaze to share. Icecloud felt her brother, Foxleap, brush against her. "Hey. You want to go on border patrol with me and Cloudtail?" he asked, no noticing her glum look. "No thanks, Foxleap..." Icecloud murmured and the red tom shrugged and bounded over to Cloudtail. Suddenly a loud yowling perked her ears up, and Dustpelt, Brackenfur, Berrynose and Sandstorm burst from the bushes. Firestar appeared from his den and called down, "Whats the problem, Dustpelt?" The brown tabby tom's pelt was on end, and his tail lashed angrily, annoyance streaming off his pelt like waves. "Its WindClan!" he yowled and Firestar leapt down. "WindClan?" he asked curiously. "They have been stealing our prey!" Dustpelt snarled. "We saw blood and rabbit bones!" Berrynose added, a sneering note in his voice. "I'm sure theres an explanation why Onestar had his warriors cross the border..." Firestar began but Lionblaze cut him off. "Ill go check... by myself... if you want Firestar..." he offered. At this, Icecloud pricked up her ears. She watched Lionblaze and Firestar trot to the Highrock to talk.
The next morning, Icecloud felt something brush her tail and paw. She opened one eye and saw Lionblaze's tail snake out of the den. She got up silently and crept after him through the camp entrance, through the silent and cold forest, and stop at WindClan border. There the golden tabby waited silently, his ears perked and eyes bright. A loud crashing startled both of them, and Icecloud struggled to make her paws quiet as she followed Lionblaze towards the noise. "Badger!" Lionblaze snarled and crept to the back of it. Then with a battle yowl, he launched himself at it and dug his claws into its white striped back. The badger roared and turned around sharply, trying to get the cat off its back. Lionblaze reached up and grabbed hold of the badger's neck. It roared in pain and tried to slice its blunt but long claws down Lionblaze, but failed. Lionblaze grunted and ripped away, letting the badger fall limp in front of his paws. Icecloud gasped as Lionblaze turned around, not a single scratch on his sleek golden pelt. "Lionblaze!" she gasped a little too loudly and the world was a rush as a golden flash pelted past her and knocked her to the ground.
