this is in my opinion is the best musicle of all time,i have seen it many times. i was a teenager when i first saw it in 1963.after leaving school in 1965 this film influnced my first employment,i stared work in the largest cinema in leeds (yorkshire uk) the majestic,now a night club.i became a trainee projectionist.at the time we were showing the sound of music,the director,robert wise also did west side story. i am going to see it next month at the bradford film fesival,it will be shown in it's original large sceen format with full stereo soundtack.i will be taking my gandaugter now 12 who will see it for the first time,i cant wait.

As a new member here and a devout fan of the film West Side Story who's also seen a half-dozen really good stage productions of this great musical, I read your article and can appreciate where you're coming from. Here's hoping that your granddaughter enjoyed this great movie/musical classic. West Side Story is my alltime favorite film, hands down, and, I've not only attended virtually every screenings of WSS that has shown in our area (the one exception being in mid-March of 2001, when my late dad's memorial conflicted directly with an afternoon screening of WSS in our area, so I couldn't attend that particular screening), and I've even made a number of road trips to neighboring states to attend screenings of this great film.
