In my opinion, I think Windows 10 is a great operating system. It has been 4 years since the OS has been released, and it only keeps getting better. In fact, I created this group all the way back in 2015 because of how much I liked the operating system. One of the nicest changes I've seen so far is how transparency is now more shown throughout the Windows Store/Universal Windows Platform apps. I also like the new Microsoft Edge Insider program based off the Chromium project. One thing that I don't exactly like is the default interface. It's fine for a while, but sometimes it feels lacking and restricted. However, programs such as TranslucentTB help with that. The start menu can also feel a little restricting, but that's okay with me, as I have found a few ways around it. Overall, Windows 10 has become better through updates, however not all features have been updated to be great. Also, a couple features feel like they come out straight of the Windows 8.x era. I can list a few example. First, Windows Search gives an option to search for your query on Bing. In fact, it's even worse. Cortana almost always insists that you search on Bing, even when you're searching for something where the best result would be an application like Firefox or Discord. And even if you like using Cortana to search, it's still bad. It used to default to your default browser, and people used extensions from the Chrome Web Store that would transfer from Bing to Google. However, after an update, Microsoft changed it so that no matter if you're a fan of Google for a search engine, or Google Chrome, Firefox, or Opera for a web browser, it will always go to Bing and Microsoft Edge. I have stopped using it more and more. I used to talk to Cortana to open my apps. And I also asked questions. But it seems like it might meet the same fate of Siri, or even worse. It seems to win 3rd place out of 4th, when comparing Google Assistant on Google Home, Google Assistant on smartphones, Cortana, and Siri. Google Assistant comes at both 1st and 2nd place. Well, maybe Siri is bad, but Cortana is only a a little better. However, every issue here can be fixed by just not using Cortana and/or the search box. I set my search box to hidden or icon only on my computers because of how rarely I use it. As another positive though, it's not too much to bother me, and it's the only problem I have encountered within Windows 10 that is almost deemed as broken. In conclusion, Windows 10 is great with most of it's features, although some can feel a little restricted or broken. What do you think of Windows 10? What do you think Microsoft could fix, add, or remove? Let me know by posting a comment. That's all for now. Thanks for reading. Also, make sure you update your Windows 10 device as some versions of Windows 10 have been discontinued/unsupported, such as RTM, November Update, Anniversary Update, and Creators Update.
