Okay I finally finished it! If you have any other questions about it or want more details about a specific thing just ask because this nonsense is stupidly complicated.

(Messiah Complex)

Hope summers was born in Cooperstown Alaska to Captain Louise Spalding of the Cooperstown Fire Department. Hope was the first mutant born after M Day and this made her a target from the start. Cooperstown was attacked by the Purifiers (Stryker's old team of mutant haters) and the Marauders (Mr. Sinister's team) who both wished to capture the baby for different reasons. The Purifiers hoped that by killing the first mutant born since M Day they could make mutant kind go extinct and they even went so far as to kill all the children of Cooperstown. The Marauders were trying to capture her for an unnamed plan of Sinister's. Thankfully the first person to find Hope was Cable the time displaced son of Scott Summers and Jean Grey clone Madelyne Pryor (his history is a whole different 1000 word long post) who believed that she would bring about a golden age for mutants.

Cable took the baby and moved steadily towards Texas where Forge was. Cable was planning on getting some parts from Forge to repair his time machine and take Hope into the future to be raised away from those who wished to kill her. Meanwhile the X Men were puzzling out what happened in Cooperstown and unwittingly gave critical information to Hope’s biggest nemesis. The X Men believed that Cable was attacking them in order to keep them off his trail so Cyclops sent Wolverine’s new team X Force after Cable to kill him and take the baby. It turned out that Bishop (another time displaced X Man) was the true culprit. Bishop was attacking the X Men in order to keep them from the baby who he believed would bring about the Days of Future Past (his past/future) by going crazy and killing a bunch of people. Cyclops finally gave Cable his blessing to take Hope into the future where he believed she would be safe. Sadly Bishop had his own time machine and followed them.

(Cable Second Series # 1-5)

Only a few months after making it to the future Cable and Hope were found by Bishop again. Bishop managed to do some serious damage by shooting Cable’s metal arm (it’s techo-organic so he’s essentially a cyborg) and hitting his time machine. Thinking it’s damaged Cable spends some time in this era and discovers everything is shit. Much of the East Coast has flooded and has been taken over by horrible rich people (I think) leaving the common citizens to barely eke out a living not knowing what new cruelties they will suffer at the hands of their authority figures. They learn this all from a waitress named Sophie (very similar to a different blonde haired, blue eyed waitress with dead parents named Stacey that Cable used to date). Sophie begs Cable to stay and help them but he declines saying Hope is his only priority and that she will prevent all this from happening. After raiding an abandoned X-Men base they confront Bishop. Cable finally realizes that his time machine isn’t completely broken and teleports to the future leaving Sophie to fight the corrupt government with the weapons she took from the base.

(Cable Second Series #6-10, King-Size Cable Spectacular #1)

After a couple more scuffles with Bishop, Cable takes Hope to a hidden city called New Liberty where Cable is treated with much suspicion especially by a certain woman named Hope (note at this point Cable has not named Hope feeling that he has not earned that right, this is also why she calls him Nathan or Nay Nay instead of dad). Well after a couple years of living there Hope warms up to him and they get married. Apparently Nate won’t marry a woman unless she first treats him with suspicion and criticism. One day New Liberty is attacked by these scary ass cockroach people who artificially evolved in order to thrive in this destroyed world. Of course Cable kills most of them and escapes with Hope and child in tow. Months later the new president of the cockroach people finds them and puts a mind control collar on Cable and is about to force him to kill his family. Thankfully little Hope learned a thing or two from her adoptive dad and stabs that bitch in the chest! This frees Cable and allows him to finish him! A couple days after this terribly lucky event big Hope gets shot in the chest. Just out of nowhere killed. This gives Cable the realization that he now truly is the baby’s dad and he names her after her dead mother.

(Messiah War: Cable Second Series #11-15, X-Force Third Series #14-16, X-Force/Cable: Messiah War)

Two years after the death of Hope 1 Cable and Hope leave the group they have been with because the idiots want to bomb everything in an attempt to kill the roaches without realizing this will also kill them. Once again on their own in the middle of nowhere Cable and Hope wander around in the desert for awhile. Suddenly Cable passes out! Oh nooo! This is because he has been giving most of the food and water they find to Hope. This leaves Hope on her own for the first time in her life. Trying not to panic she uses the skills her dad taught her and finds an abandoned underground base that thankfully contains food and water (and dead people). After reviving, Cable believes that Hope used her mysterious unknown mutant powers to find it when actually all she used was her eyes and some common sense. They once again jump into the future and find themselves in a suspiciously familiar looking city that they can’t seem to teleport out of.

Meanwhile Cyclops sends Wolverine’s new X-Force team into the future in an attempt to find Cable and Hope and possibly bring them home. They also end up in the sinister city and meet up with an old friend who is of course the one and only Merc with a Mouth Deadpool! Deadpool apparently has survived this long because he got trapped in a freezer for a couple centuries and is now even more insane. This wacky band of misfits soon meets up with Cable and Hope and start arguing over what’s best for Hope. They are eventually interrupted by the realization that this city is controlled by Stryfe (Cable’s insanely powerful, evil clone). Stryfe of course shows up and kidnaps Hope because he’ll do anything to fuck with Cable. It’s a clone thing. While Cable and X-Force (minus Archangel who mysteriously flew off) fight their way to Stryfe’s citadel we find out that Bishop is working with Stryfe in an effort to kill Hope. They even teamed up to take down Apocalypse (Cable’s arch nemesis and Stryfe’s “father”). Well eventually Cable and X-Force get there and get their asses handed to them by Stryfe but are saved at the last minute by the appearance of Apocalypse who was brought there after being revived by Archangel. Apocalypse then kicks total ass and takes possession of Hope. Archangel then points out that since he saved Apocalypse, Apocalypse owes him and so Apocalypse gives them Hope. X-Force let Cable and Hope teleport off again now that the anti-teleportation field has been deactivated but Hope throws a fit because she wants to stay and help X-Force. She does this right as Cable teleports and ends up stranded years behind Cable.

(Cable Second Series #16-20)

Now alone Hope heads towards a city in the distance. It turns out it is populated by the descendents of Stryfe’s clone troopers. She meets and befriends a boy named Emil. Though she is hostel at first she eventually gives in and they have a semi romance as they mature into teenagers. A couple years later Cable shows up but badly wounded from his techno organic virus. Bishop shows up also but again gets beat up by a critically ill senior citizen. Cable eventually finds Hope though she doesn’t recognize him at first (due to the T.O virus distorting his features) but he eventually convinces her that he is her “Nay Nay.” He tells her that they must migrate out into space because the Earth is so jacked up there’s no point staying on it. He gets her on a ship though she fights him in an attempt to also save Emil. An unspecified amount of time later Emil catches up with them on a ship commanded by Bishop who told Emil he was Hope’s guardian who wanted to save her from her cyborg kidnapper. Through… events everything becomes a big cluster fuck with the Brood, and space sharks and other stuff that isn’t really worth mentioning. Emil gets Cable and Hope to two stasis pods his ship has and has Cable and Hope get into them. Cable others Emil space in Hope’s pod (because Nate is so fucking tall and buff there is no room in his pod). Emil declines saying that he won’t compromise her chance of living. The pods are launched and Emil shoots Bishop who then gets eaten by the Brood or something. Emil finally sets off the nuke Bishop planned to kill Hope with in the hopes that it would kill Bishop and ensure Hope’s safety.

(Cable Second Series #21-25)

Sadly Bishop took over the Brood’s mind or something and… pilots one of them to go after Hope and Cable. Two years after Emil’s death they land on Earth and start planning their trip back to the present. Luckily for them Bishop shows up, slits Cable’s throat, and then attempts to shot Hope in the head. Also luckily for them Hope’s mimic powers manifest and she uses Cable’s telekinesis to stop the bullet and Bishop then gets attacked by Cable (because when more than half of your throat is metal it’s a little hard to cut). They knock Bishop out and steal parts from his time machine and repair Cable’s. They then jump through time, each jump taking them closer to the X-Men’s present. Bishop through plot convenience follows them on these jumps but eventually ends up stranded thousands of years in the future on a ravaged Earth presumably to die of starvation.

(X-Men: Second Coming: Second Coming: Prepare, X-Men: Second Coming #1-2, Uncanny X-Men #523-525, New Mutants #12-14, X-Men Legacy #235-237, and X-Force #26-28)

So Cable and Hope finally make it to the past. They end up at the now abandoned Xavier’s Institute with Hope immediately taking this as a sign that the past is as messed up as the future. They are fairly quickly attacked by soldiers sent by Bastion (an advanced Sentinel from the future). They fight them off and are on the road again when Wolverine and a team of other X-Men show up (they were able to find them because Rogue and Hope have some mental link because Hope touched Rogue and cured her of a bunch of nonsense) and hold up the soldiers. Cable and Hope make it to a grocery store where they hold up the employees and steal some essentials. There they also find a car to jack and they drive to a motel. Hope, unfamiliar with motels, is suspicious and wonders if they should do some reconnaissance but Cable assures her it’s fine. She immediately gives into her inner child and fully takes advantage of our modern comforts such as mini bars and jumping on the bed. Cable wires himself into the phone lines to get some information while Hope is in the shower. When Hope gets out Cable gives her a brush set she was staring at earlier in order to make up for being short tempered.

Of course this comfortable scene is disrupted as the power is cut and Stryker and the Purifiers attack. Luckily Wolverine and company show up to help them out. In the attack Magik (a teleporter) is sent to Limbo. Cable and Hope make it out again and temporarily hide out in a trailer park so Cable’s arm can be repaired. The Purifiers find them again. Thankfully so do the X-Men. They find out that the Purifiers can find them because Bastion’s computer is riddled with the T.O virus and can sense Cable because of it. Cable agrees to split up him and Hope and sends her with Nightcrawler and Rogue who has now absorbed the powers of everyone present.

Nightcrwaler exhausts himself with too many teleports too far apart and they take a short break. Bastion finds them. He manages to beat the crap out of Rogue and Nightcrawler but at the last minute Nightcrawler teleports in front of Hope, impaling himself on Bastion’s arm. He grabs her and teleports her to Utopia (the X-Men’s base at the time off the coast of San Francisco). Of course having someone very beloved die for you doesn’t always make a good impression and Utopia is divided on what to think of her. Cable and Hope wander around for a bit and do stuff (including introducing Scott as Cable’s father, talking to Magneto, attending Nightcrawer’s funeral and Hope getting in a cafeteria brawl with New Mutant Moonstar while Cable threatens to take Hope back into the future with his last time jump if Cyclops doesn’t back off). Then the Blackbird is blown up followed by an impenetrable force field being activated over Utopia.

The X-Men realize that Bastion has been targeting teleporters (Nightcrawler, Ariel, and Vanisher were killed, and Magik was stranded as were the science team that could have possibly build a teleporter) in order to trap them in this bubble and release futuristic, near impossible to beat Sentinels upon them. These Sentinels are coming through a portal to the future that is impossible to cross unless you happen to be a robot. As the X-Men start trying to kill these robots Cyclops sends Wolverine’s X-Force and Cable to the future in order to try and stop the Sentinels at the source. Since Cable only has enough juice for one time slide they essentially embark on a suicide mission. Hope angrily berates Cyclops for sending them to their death and then decides it’s time to gear up and kick ass believing that if people are willing to die for her than she should fight alongside them. After a lot of fighting X-Force manages to stop the Sentinel processing plant and watch as the portal back home begins to close. At the last minute Cable jumps into the portal allowing the T.O virus to fully consume him, thus making him essentially a robot and therefore able to use the portal. He holds the portal open for the rest of the team (which doesn’t really make sense) and manages to give Hope one last smile before the portal closes and destroys him leaving only his arm. Bastion appears again and Hope in a rage manifests the powers of all the mutants present and destroys him. Exhausted she passes out holding her dad’s hand.

When Hope wakes up she is again confronted by the fact that many inhabitants of Utopia don’t care for her but she is treated kindly by Magneto the very man her dad didn’t want her talking to. Later at a celebratory bon fire Emma Frost sees a fiery Phoenix surround Hope and runs to tell Cyclops but he is too distracted by the fact that Cerebra has picked up five new mutants or “lights.” The first since Wanda uttered the words “No more mutants.”

After Second Coming

I haven’t kept up with Hope as well after this because I really only buy Cable comics because of my limited budget. I do know that she started her own team called Generation Hope but that didn’t turn out too well (Generation Hope and X-Men: Schism). Most of the members didn’t like her and didn’t trust her (for good reason, turns out she was subconsciously planting suggestions in their minds when she was around them). I do know that the member Kenji tried to kill her after brain washing much of Utopia and that the team is disbanded at this point. Cable eventually came back trying to kill the Avengers (Avengers: X-Sanction) because he believed they would try to kill Hope in the future. Hope and Cyclops stopped him but he was left in a coma by his T.O virus. During this coma AvX happened and I can’t even begin to go into how fucking dumb that was at this point. After that Cable woke up and left Hope who then was put in a foster home by the Avengers so she could have a “normal” life (Cable and X-Force). Well she found Cable again and sometimes works with his new X-Force team though he tries to keep her out of it since the Avengers are hunting him and his team down and calling them terrorists. I haven’t caught up on this series yet though I did buy like the first eight issues so after I read them I might update this if you want. I might even edit bits of this to add more detail but honestly my brain is fried and I need a break. This was still better than writing a school paper. Man if only I could get away with sending in this. It’s eleven pages double spaced!

A true BAMF in every sense of the word.
A true BAMF in every sense of the word.
I should get Rogue’s and Laura’s countdowns up soon but I figured I would get Kurt’s done so that it would actually be posted while he was Mutant of the Week. My excuse is the same as everyone else’s. School started and I have more to do with my day then write articles. Since I can’t think of anything else to put here let’s get to the costumes.
Looks like you could stab someone with thouse shoulders.

Emma is picked up by her butler and begins to have headaches as she leaves the campus. The butler takes her home to Boston where her family lives. Emma has to...

This review is about my personal thoughts, concerning the Dark Phoenix film. You don't have to agree. After all, having different opinions is one of the main things, that makes each person unique and interesting.

Before Seeing The Film:

When I first heard about the film and started seeing advertisements, I had some interest in it. This was primarily because of Sophie Turner. Although I'm no longer a Game of Thrones fan, I still really like her acting. I'm also a big fan of superheroes, so I was excited, to see her play a superhero. I heard lots of dread and negative feelings, from critics,...
