Chapter Eighteen
Glory’s relief was short lived. She watched in horror as Lupe and Roslyn’s bodies froze in the air and then went flying across the room. They both landed with a crash against the wall. Lupe came up snarling before getting frozen again.
Damien had shifted back to human form. “ Down dog.”
He smirked and Lupe dropped to the floor, growling. Roslyn jumped up, obviously trying for the element of surprise, but she only got a couple feet before Damien had her pinned against the wall with his mind. Where were the Montez’s? Glory sat up slowly, holding a hand to her still bloody head. She wobbled over to where Lupe was still on the floor, glaring as much as wolves can glare.
“ Lupe, Where are the Montez’s?”
Damien whirled and threw up a hand.
“ I thought I told you to stay put, sweetheart.”
Glory felt herself rise, until she was hovering over the floor.
“Put me down.” Glory hissed and started to struggle. Nothing happened.
“ Oh lookie here. Is that your boyfriend I hear?” Damien cocked his head, just as the dresser blocking the door went flying straight for Glory.
Damien caught it with his mind, and it moved back to its original place by her bed gently.
“ You really should be more careful with your entrances. Someone almost got hurt.” Damien made a tsk tsk tsk noise and snarl bounced around the room.
Glory jerked her attention to the door and almost started crying in relief at the sight of Aden, Anna, and Gabe standing there, looking magnificent.
“ Aden.” Her voice came out softer than a whisper, but he still heard her. His honey eyes focused on her, and he took a step forward.
“Not so fast, lover boy.”
Aden slammed up against the wall.
Anna took at step forward, her small features looking fierce.
“ I don’t think this is quite a fair fight, do you Damien?” Her faced tightened for a moment, and Glory felt her feet touch the floor. Lupe and Roslyn jumped up with snarls, and Aden took a step forward.
Glory ran toward him until she felt his strong arms around her. He tightened his grasp until her feet let the floor. She could feel his breath in her hair and she buried her face in the curve of his neck.
Damien let out something like a growl, and Glory felt herself ripped out of Aden’s embrace. She landed behind Damien so that he was in between her and the Montez’s.
Aden snarled and started to come after her, but something flew threw the door and paused an inch from her face. Glory drew in a shuddering breath, and then another, when her eyes focused on what it was.
" You keep your kitchen well stocked, Glory." Damien chuckled.
A huge cooking knife glinted back at her.
“ Didn’t your mother teach you not to play with knives?” Anna snapped and the knife glided over to point at Damien. Damien laughed and the knife flew back over to Glory and slowly cut a line down her cheek. As soon as she could move, Glory reached a hand up and felt blood welling.
Anna hissed and her fists balled up.
“ Enough Anna. We do not want her to be hurt any more.” Aden help a hand out to stop Anna.
Damien grinned and Glory wished she could slap that smug look off his face.
“ Wonderful. She will be going with us.” Damien supplied and hooked an arm around Glory’s waist, steering her toward the broken window.
Aden hissed at seeing the contact.
“ Oh don’t worry, Aden. I’ll take good care of her.” Damien ran his mouth slowly down Glory’s cheek to the corner of her mouth. Glory tried to get away, but she couldn’t do anything except for what Damien made her do.
“ Catch you later!” Damien called as he lowered himself and Glory to the ground. As the bustled Glory into a hidden car, Glory stared up at the window. Finally Aden’s glorious face appeared.
I love you.
Glory sent the words his way. She saw him jerk, and then press a hand against the window sill as if to steady himself.
Damien slammed the door in her face.
I will come for you. Aden’s voice echoed softly around her mind and Glory jumped in surprise. How did that happen?
But then she felt the faint sensation of his lips brushing hers, and she knew everything would turn out ok.
