Hey guys.
This chapter isn't that good. It's now 12.53 and I'm tired. So I apologize. Anyway, I hope you all have a really good weekend and Thanks for reading!
Ian dropped me home after our practice session. I was really pleased with myself. In one day I learnt of a power I possessed and how to use it. We were going to learn more in a few days. It was just enough time for me to get use to the idea.
The next day I thought I would do a bit of research on the internet about Animal control, and all I seemed to be getting was pest removal sites and possum trap information. After a few more keyword corrections I found a site that held a small bit of information. It said that one was born the power to control animals but could never use it until an elder or chief unlocked it from ones soul. It also said that the gift could vary. Sometimes if people became very good at controlling their gift, they could pick up some traits of the animal, like an acute sense of smell similar to that of a dog.
After an hour of searching and reading I decided to call it quits for the day. I needed breakfast and it smelt like Mum was making a good one.
“Mm, waffles and bacon. Did I do something right?” I asked with a cheeky grin. Breakfast like this was usually only done on special occasions like birthdays or Christmas.
“No, we’ll yes, but that’s not why I’m cooking breakfast.” She said as she was putting a few cut strawberries on my plate and handing it over.
“Thanks. Why are you cooking breakfast? I hope no one died.” Whoops. I didn’t mean to say that out loud, and from the look on Mums face, she didn’t really want to hear it. I quickly stuffed a chunk of waffle into my mouth.
“No, Kailey. No one died. And I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t talk like that. I’m going to be out all day. So you are going to have to cook your own dinner and sort out lunch. I’ve had someone ring in from work. There has been a bit of a meltdown and I really have to go and take care of it. I’ll be home really late.” Mum looked a bit angry that she had to give up her weekend. I suppose that’s what you get when you own the joint. Mum worked in a restaurant in town. She hadn’t cooked in years, but she loved running the place, and she did a pretty good job at it.
“So this is a sympathy breakfast. Go, I’ll be fine. Have fun.” I laughed.
After she cleaned the pan Mum grabbed her keys, kissed my forehead and shot out the door.
I decided to do a bit of shopping today. The weather wasn’t that great and I had been given my monthly allowance last week. I hadn’t spent any of it yet. It was always good to get off the farm every once and a while too, otherwise I think I would slowly go insane. I thought of inviting Brooklyn, but I needed some ‘me’ time. I dressed up a little bit. I put on a nice floral dress because it was still summer but chucked some tights on underneath. With that I put on a nice little black cardigan and some pretty flats Mum had gotten me a while ago. I slapped on a bit of make up, grabbed my keys and left.
As soon as I walked into the mall I was flooded with the smell of perfume, fast food and new clothes.
I slowly made my way to the book store and picked out a few books I’d been meaning to read. I brought a new jacket and some new necklaces as well. After a while, my stomach let me know it was time for some lunch. I grabbed a hamburger and found a seat. Once I’d had a few bites I looked up and scanned the room for anyone I would know. I saw Hunter walking towards me with a very toxic face. He stopped suddenly in front of me and in a chilling voice he said “This is for Etera!” the next thing I knew there was a dark piece of metal sticking out from my chest. The last thing I heard before I hit the ground was the screaming of the other shoppers.
