It was a warm and sunny day in jasper Park, Canada as Humphrey began stir. As he woke he turned on his side to see his beautiful Kate laying peacefully next to him. Humphrey Was hungry, so he went to the back of the den to eat the caribou that they had left from the night before. He quietly ate and soon went for a walk to work of the meal.
"Sure is a beautiful day". Humphrey thought to himself.
As he walked done the path, He smelled a rotting, decomposing smell which soon over welled Humphrey with its stench. Humphrey stopped and looked around for a carcass of an animal but he saw none.
Humphrey started to slowly walk done the path to find the source of the horrible odor. As He continued further down the path, he saw what he thought was another coyote or wolf eating.
"Hey, your in our territory, leave now!" he said
No answer. Humphrey started to trot up to what now appeared to be a coyote. Humphrey was now only feet way from the coyote. Humphrey was Startled to see gashes, cuts, flesh falling off, and to see bones visible. He was startled to see he was eating another coyote! Humphrey's heart was beating, he barley managed to cough up the words: "Are you okay?"
The coyote suddenly turned around and Humphrey Jumped back out of fear when he saw the glowing yellow eyes.
Humphrey started to run as fast as he could from the coyote. He looked back and saw the coyote chasing him and was catching up fast! Suddenly, the coyote jumped and landed on Humphrey's back. The coyote bite Humphrey in his spine, causing Humphrey to slowly but surly die. "AAAAHHHHH!!!" Humphrey let out a blood-curdling scream and cry as the coyote finished him off and started to feed on him.
The scream that Humphrey let out managed to wake up Kate. She immediately noticed that Humphrey was not beside her. Kate started to worry and she frantically searched the perimeter around the den, but she turned up no sign that Humphrey was there. She then ran to her father's den to report that Humphrey was missing.
Kate:"Dad! I can't find Humphrey, I searched around the den and there was no sign of him. No tracks, scent, anything!"
Winston:"Okay, well search for him, just calm down. Hutch! get all the alphas and start a search party."
Hutch:" Yes sir! Cando,your with me!"
Cando:"Okay."
As Lilly comforted her, Winston and Eve went with the the rest of the alphas and immediately started searching.
Eve walked up to Hutch.
Eve:" Anything yet?"
Hutch:"No Mam, nothing y-...Wait!"
Hutch Smelled Humphrey's scent, but also smelled a rotting, bloodish smell mixed with it.
Hutch:"Everybody follow me, I think I have his sent!"
Everybody followed Hutch. Soon, everybody could smell a rotting stench which filled the air.
Suddenly, one of the alphas yelled.
Alpha:"Hey, over here!!"
Winston, Eve, Hutch, and Cando ran up to see what the alpha had found.
Silence fell over everyone as they gazed at the torn apart and bloodied body of Humphrey.
Eve:" Oh my g-......"
Winston:" Go get Kate, she needs to see this."
When Kate and Lilly arrived, They saw some wolves crying, some whispering. Kate started to think the worst, and her worst fear was confirmed.
Kate started to cry and looked at her father.
Kate:"Dad, who did this!?"
Winston:" We don't know yet, honey. But we will search for who ever did this!"
Lilly was in the Back of the crowd, she was crying a little but she tried to keep a brave face. Kate walked up to her.
Kate:"Lilly it will be okay, trust me."
Lilly tried to hold together.
Lilly:"I know, But I can't believe he is gone."
Kate:"I know how you feel."
Suddenly, one of the wolves yelled.
Wolf:" Look, Humphrey is moving!!"
Everybody immediately looked at The carcass which was now moving!
Kate:"Humphrey, How Ar-."
Humphrey suddenly growled and stood up and leaped on Eve. Eve fought back but was easily over powered by Humphrey, who bit part of her face off!!
Everybody Started to run for their lives!
When Hutch, Cando, Kate, Lilly, And Winston where back in the den, They set all the alphas on alert.
Kate:"What happened to Humphrey?"
Winston:" I don't know, But what ever it is can bring the dead back to life."
Lilly:"Like a zombie!"
Winston:" Yep, that's what he is."
Kate:' that still doesn't explain why Humphrey is still alive!"
Winston:"Kate, That "thing" out there is not the Humphrey you KNEW."
