Hello, everyone! BingoPB here, and I decided to write an article about my favorite lyrics. I know. You were expecting a poem. Don't worry; there will be more poems to come. I just didn't feel like writing one at the moment. This list is not exhaustive, but if I were to include all of my favorite lyrics, I'd be up all night. This is not in a particular order. Here it goes.
"Why must we kill our own kind?" from "Boom!" by System of a Down
System of a Down is known anti-war songs. "Boom!" is one of the many songs written in protest to wars that should have never been started. Basically, war is killing other human beings. That's why this lyric sticks out to me.
"Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage" from "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" by Smashing Pumpkins
Sometimes the angriest people are the ones who are the most fearful. That's what I took from this lyric. I always felt some sort of connection with this lyric. I like to act tough sometimes, but it's really a defense mechanism. Deep down, I'm really sensitive.
"Many times, I've been alone, and many times, I've cried. Anyway, you'll never know the many ways I've tried" from "The Long and Winding Road" by the Beatles
That lyric reminds me of myself before high school, especially "Many times, I've been alone". I've often felt misunderstood. I still do sometimes. It also reminds me of Paul's struggle to keep the Beatles together.
"Bear paws and rascal power, watching us in your garage" from "Death of a Martian" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
This song is so touching. It was dedicated in memory of Flea's dog, Martian. This song is a very appropriate tribute for a pet, especially if that pet was a large dog. I listened to this song a lot after Bingo's death to help me cope.
"Take comfort in your friends" from "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M.
"Everybody Hurts" is a song I like to listen to when I'm feeling down. This particular lyric sticks out to me, because taking comfort from someone you trust always helps to make things better.
"But you were always there with a smile" from "Here Today" by Paul McCartney
This song is so touching. Paul wrote this song in memory of John. It is a tearjerker. I cried the first time I heard it. It's mainly because it makes me think about a friend of mine who faced a similar fate that John did. Of course, my friend's death was an accident. Still, the pain is the same. This particular lyric stands out to me, because there wasn't a day that went by that my friend didn't smile.
I hope you enjoyed my little list. Feel free to share which one was your favorite in the comments below. If you're not familiar with any of the songs, I recommend listening to them. Of course, I don't recommend "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" and "Boom!" if you're not into grunge or heavy metal.

She was once someone I know.
She is now someone I knew.
I told her all of my secrets.
She never told a soul.
She never ran out of things to say,
To make me feel better.
She was the star of the sea,
But her ship sailed away.
The waves pushed me back.
Now, I find, I'm all alone.
This great person I knew,
Was a good friend.
It's a shame this had to end.
I miss her greatly,
But pining over her,
Won't change anything at all.
I have to move on.
It's time to let go.
I will never forget what we had.
I finally accepted that it wasn't meant to be.
She is now someone I knew.
I told her all of my secrets.
She never told a soul.
She never ran out of things to say,

Who are you to tell me,
That I'm not so pretty?
Malicious Mirror, you weren't my friend.
You were my worst enemy!
You told me I was ugly,
And I couldn't make friends.
But I stayed strong,
And proved you wrong!
I'll now direct it to you,
Oh, Christians, I verily say,
Who are you to tell me,
What I should be?!
You told me to be prejudiced.
I was blind to your ways,
But now I see,
You tried to force a false identity.
What were you trying to do,
When you told me to believe,
Your lies? You said my grandfather,
Whom I loved dearly, is in Hell,
And I know that he is well.
He's behind that pearly gate,
And I know that is his fate.
Christians, you betrayed my trust,
Only to cause a thirst for lust.
That I'm not so pretty?
Malicious Mirror, you weren't my friend.
You were my worst enemy!
You told me I was ugly,
And I couldn't make friends.

Christians, you betrayed my trust,
Only to cause a thirst for lust.
When you told me you'd visit me,
You lied! Oh, how could this be?
Alas! Puppy Love tragically died.
I felt, as if, I'd fallen, into the dirt.
This lost love, left me badly hurt.
But I am all right.
I'm very much alive.
I'll take this scarred heart,
Let it heal, and keep it, from falling apart.
They say it's better to have loved and lost,
But, I think, I would have been better off,
To have never loved at all.
To love again, I never will.
It isn't worth, the pain that you feel.
Love is for someone, who isn't me.
I think it's best to let it be.
I am just fine, with the company of friends.
Not with lovers, that's how it is.
