No rocket launch into outer space provided an expectation of a boring Sunshine movie to me. It seemed like a definite challenge to make an interesting movie inside a few spaces within a spaceship. To add salt to the wound, some of them had to be used over & over again. Seemingly subliminal flashes of images, some random & some ordered made added more quality to the scenes. Additionally, the background music added the much needed emotions for the Sunshine movie.

The crew's decision to detour the mission was the obvious decisive mistake which snowballed into more mistakes, one after another as like the crew members dying one after another. The mysterious fifth crew member in the Sunshine movie could have been easily mistaken as an alien assassin.

However, the person was actually the single surviving crew member of the first Icarus mission whom had become disturbingly insane. The most perplexing situation was when most of the remaining crew voted to kill one of their crew members, Trey (Benedict Wong) suspected of sabotaging the mission.

It was another instance of lack of mission protocol which would have altogether avoided the situation in reality. The entire movie was based on the notion of some amateur astronauts going against a non existing mission protocol. The second Icarus mission in the Sunshine movie is a lame excuse for saving the sun & all of humankind.

After fulfilling the mission priority, then the crew can choose to rendezvous with the old Icarus, search for survivors & whatever. I know that someone who thinks like me should captain the mission. I mean, what the heck were they thinking, making fancy starship maneuvers in front of the freaking sun?

You can understand how one is able to continue watching a chain of imminent idiotic blunders that fell upon the crew. Thankfully, the film director, Danny Boyle (28 Days Later & Trainspotting) did a spectacular job of making the Sunshine movie entertaining & CGI (computer generated imagery) rich.

I believe that the film director had a real challenge to make the movie entertaining because the more interesting anti-thesis of the Sunshine movie storyline was to fulfill the mission according to mission protocol, do not deviate from the mission trajectory, release payload & return to earth.

Even in death, Michelle Yeoh's character, Corazon in the Sunshine movie sat in a symbolic pose. She sat on her bottom with folded legs & the surviving plant & some soil in her grasp close to the ground. The camera zoomed to her hands to show that it was her final attempt to nourish the surviving plant her blood & sweat. She may have also hoped that the plant would survive & thrive to help sustain the lives of her fellow crew members.

The surviving crew & the insane alien look-alike murderer took a one way ticket into the sun for the sake of all mankind. It was the ultimate "take one for the team" kind of sacrifice. Being so deep in the sun, it became obvious that starting a new human civilization on the sun was becoming more & more possible in the Sunshine Movie. By the way, the gravity effect was interesting too. It seemed that they could stand up straight on all sides of the giant cube.

So moving on, they had one man, Capa (Cillian Murphy), a total delusional genius whose decision caused the Sunshine movie to be extended another one & a half hour. Then, there was Cassie (Rose Byrne), a woman who was attracted to the delusional genius. Last but not least, there was the naked pastor who can not seem to stop talking about God. He could probably wise up & start being of some use & marry the two love birds.

The contraption that they were in was so inflammable that they could virtually have made it self sustainable for life. Maybe Capa & Cassie are still alive inside the sun. The sun's energy did not seem to harm him in the end. One thing is for sure, the sequel to the Sunshine movie would be very interesting indeed. Starting from the aforementioned point of departure & done correctly, the Sunshine movie sequel is definitely going to be better than its predecessor. Anything better than the sheer idiocy of the Sunshine movie in essence is going to be a winner!
