CC looked around the corner. It had only been a week since Ivy had came to the  zoo. She was getting all the attention. CC was jealous of that. Sure, she had lots of attention when she first came to the zoo, but it had only lasted a few days, not a whole week.
Everybody seemed to be ignoring CC. Ever since Ivy came, the team had treated CC like a rock, and Ivy a precious mineral. CC was determined to find out what Ivy's secret to getting all this attention. Was it a machine? A magic clover? Or maybe it was just her good looks. Whatever it was, CC just had to find out.
Still spying on Ivy, CC adjusted her glasses and wiped the fog off of them. She accidentally dropped them on the ground. Ivy looked up, and almost saw CC. Ivy waddled over to were CC had dropped her glasses. CC inched farther away as Ivy got closer to her.
Ivy bent down to get a closer look at the glasses. The poison ivy that was tucked in her feathers scraped across CC's stomach. She backed away from Ivy, then without thinking, she ran out to were the rest of the penguins were.
CC could see, just things farther away were blurry. She dared not look back at Ivy. Ivy would surely tattle this to Skipper, and get her in trouble. CC didn't know what Skipper's punishments were, and she didn't want to find out.
CC heaved open the metal door that separated the main room from the rest of the HQ. She slammed it shut with a fury then started towards the exit. Skipper stopped her, though.
"Hey, what was that for?" he asked. "We were playing a game of War, and I was winning!"
"Sorry," CC muttered. "I'm just feeling down because of Ivy. You've  been paying too much attention to her and none to me."
"Wait, I thought we were playing Garbage!" Kowalski said, then put his cards down.
"Enough of cards, we have to deal with CC's problem," Skipper said.
"King me!" Rico cried.
"I said we were done with cards!" Skipper said.
Just then, Ivy came through the door. She was holding CC's glasses.
"Hey, CC," Ivy said. "You dropped these."
She held up the glasses, then gave them to CC.
"Um, thanks," CC said. "I, uh, just wanted to what you were doing."
"That's fine," Ivy said. "You can watch me while I work. What the heck, you could even help me! Oh, and CC, can I talk to you privately?"
"Okay," CC said. "Just make it quick."
CC and Ivy went behind the heavy metal door to talk.
"You know, I have kinda gotten a lot of attention since I first came here."Ivy said. "I don't know why, though. I just wanted to make sure you weren't jealous of me or anything."
"Well, I," CC started. "No, not at all."
"Good," Ivy said. "I want to be your friend, here. There, are like no other girls in the zoo!"
"Okay, yeah, I'll be your friend," CC replied.
"Yay!" Ivy exclaimed.
She unexpectedly hugged CC. CC hugged back.
"Thank you so much!" Ivy said.
After that, Ivy waddled away.
CC thought again of Ivy. She wasn't evil or anything, that was good. Still, the way she had hugged CC was a good feeling. Maybe Ivy had never had another friend in her life.
There was hope for a friendship to bond in between them.
