Chapter three: Trust or distrust
For a moment all three of them were completely stunned by the cheery attitude Chris had when he was talking about the rain. Than Phoebe broke the silence. "Didn't he just left with no money?" Leo nodded. "I'll go after him. He can't be anywhere far from here yet. I'll catch him up" He also left the house, so only Phoebe and Piper were left.
"Chris!" Chris stopped when he heard someone call his name and turned around to see who it was. It was Wyatts father. Why had he followed him? Didn't he trust him? Did he think he wasn't capable of buying some grocery? "What's going on? Are you spying on me?", Chris asked a bit upset. Leo frowned his eyebrows.
"No, I'm not spying on you" "Good, 'cause I really don't like that", Chris reacted. "I followed you, 'cause you forgot the money. Or were you planning on stealing?", Leo suspiciously added. Chris eyes widened and he got a shocked expression on his face.
"That's what you think of me? That I'm a common thief? You don't even know me" Leo raised his hand to calm Chris down. "Okay, okay, sorry…you want me to come with you?", he hesitantly asked. Chris shook his head. No, he didn't want the whitelighter to join him. He wanted to do this alone. "No, you should go back to the sisters" Leo nodded and gave Chris the money and then turned around to go back home. Chris let out a sigh.
One and a half hour later Chris came back home. He was completely wet and the rain was dripping on the carpet. Phoebe walked towards him and her eyes widened when she saw him. "Oh my god, you must be freezing", she said. "No, I'm fine", Chris replied and indeed, he didn't even shiver.
Phoebe was still a little bit worried. "Maybe you should take a shower and put some new clothes on. I'll grab something from Leo", she suggested. They couldn't risk him to get sick. Chris nodded and followed Phoebe to the bathroom. When they were there, Phoebe just kept standing in the doorway. "Eh…I can take it from here", he said, to make Phoebe leave. "Oh, yeah, sure. Okay, I'll leave you to it" She turned around and thought: A girl never gets to see anything around here.
Half an hour later Paige came home and she looked really exhausted. Her relationship with Richard was balancing on the edge and there was nothing she could do about it. He wouldn't even listen to her when she brought up the binding your powers subject. He kept saying that he could handle his magic, but truth to be told, he couldn't.
She threw her coat on the chair and she wanted to sank down too, when someone entered the room. He was all wet and he only had a towel around his waist. Paige eyes widened and before asking who the hell he was, she attacked him.
"Lamp!" The lamp flew in Chris's direction and he ducked away. "Wait! You don't understand!", he yelled, but Paige didn't listen. "Flowerpot!" "No, I'm not evil!" "Vase!" "Will you please stop attacking me and listen for a sec?" "I don't listen to demons. Painting!" "Help, somebody!"
Piper ran into the living room and when she realized what was going on she motioned with her hands and froze the painting. Paige frowned and looked at Piper. "What are you doing?" "What am I doing? What are you doing? You attacked an innocent", Piper replied.
"How was I supposed to know, it's not like it's written on his face", Paige self-defensively answered. "Maybe asking would've been an option", Chris sarcastically interrupted. Paige glanced at him as if she wanted to say: "Dude, the adults are talking right now" "What was he doing in the shower?", she asked. Chris threw a sarcastic glance at the red-haired sister. "Okay, this is just a wild guess, but maybe, I don't know, I was showering"
"Sorry, have I asked you something?", Paige asked irritated. Chris shook his head. "No, but that's not gonna keep my mouth shut", he answered in laughter. He found her irritated expression very amusing. "Well, would you please put some clothes on, before I-" "Before you get turned on?", Chris chuckling interrupted.
Paige got an disgusting expression on her face and she looked like she could vomit any moment. Chris turned and went back to the bathroom and Paige turned to Piper. "Who the hell is that?" "That, my little sis, is our guest, Chris Perry, from the future", Piper answered. "Whàt? From the future? Than what is he doing here?", Paige asked surprised.
"Okay, short version. There are no whitelighter in his time and he needed healing. A friend of him helped him to go back in time, to us. Leo healed him and I want him around so I can find out more about adult Wyatt, 'cause they live together as best friends" She all said in it very high rate.
Paige raised her eyebrows and than shook her head to let the information sink in. "So you mean he's staying here?" Piper nodded. "Even if you don't really know who he is?", Paige suspiciously asked. Piper nodded again. "Yeah, he looks trustable" "Okay, who are you and what have you done to my sister?", Paige aggressively asked. "I am your sister, you moron", Piper said annoyed.
A quarter later Chris came back downstairs and this time he wore clothes. He walked in in the living room and stayed in the doorway, hesitating. Paige looked up and noticed him standing. She waved her hand to him.
"Don't you just stand there. Come here and sit down", she offered. Chris shuffled to the coach and sank down. He stared at his knees, not knowing what to say. Paige swallowed and bite her lip. This was awkward. "Ehm…", she started trying to break the ice. "Look, I'm sorry I attacked you. But you have to understand. You just showed up, half-naked, or actually bare-naked and I didn't know whether you were to be trusted or distrusted"
Chris nodded. "I understand and I'm sorry, too…For almost turning you on", he added in laughter. Paiges mouth dropped open. Oh my god, what was that laughing asshole being fond of himself. "Don't flatter yourself. I'd get easier turned on by a slug than you", she disgustedly answered.
She really hoped he wouldn't be around for too long, 'cause she already disliked him. She couldn't wait for him to get his ass back to the future, where he belonged. Thank God, Phoebe and Piper entered the room, so she wasn't left alone with the bragging jerk anymore.
"I see you two have met each other", Phoebe happily noticed. Paige squeezed her lips as if she tried to stop herself from saying anything insulting. "Actually we've met before, I mean, earlier. When I came home", she said as normal as possible. She rotated her head to Chris. "Just out of curiosity, how long were you planning on staying?"
"Paige!", Piper snapped. "What?", Paige quasi-innocently said. "Those kind of things are totally out of the question. Chris stays as long as he wants to, whether you like it or not", Piper harshly answered. "Well, he's gonna have to go back sooner or later and I prefer he'd go soon"
Phoebe involved herself in the argument as well. "What the hell is your problem?", she asked her sister. "What has he done to you that gives you the right to be so hostile on him?" Paige wanted to defend herself, but Chris cut into it. "Look, I'm really enjoying the sistertalk, but I'm a little bit tired, so I'm going to the guestroom and take a nap…or crush until it's morning again" He yawned and stood up. He walked to the stairs and went upstairs to the guestroom.
Paige stared at her sisters as if they were both crazy. "I can't believe you just let him go all by himself" "Paige, I really think Chris can take care of himself", Phoebe said. "Yeah, but what about Wyatt? You know, our nephew and Pipers son? He can't take care of himself. What if Chris wants to harm him?", Paige kept going.
"Chris and Wyatt are best friends, why would he want to hurt him? Paige, you're just being paranoid and I'm getting sick of it, to be honest", Piper said. She stood up. "Where are you going?", Phoebe asked. "I'm going outside, to cool down", Piper answered.
She went outside. She looked around and then gasped. "Phoebe! Paige! Get your asses here!", she yelled. Both sisters ran outside and looked in the direction where Piper was pointing. They gasped, too. Chris was sitting on the roof.
