The Manor
Chris was basically drowning the plants when someone rang the bell. He put the watering-can down and walked to the front door.
Hallie was standing on the doorstep.
“Hi” she said shy.
“Hi, what are you doing here?” Chris said monotone.
“I-eh- I think I owe you an explanation” Hallie said.
“About what?” Chris said, not exactly interested.
“I haven’t been completely honest with you. You know, the accident? I wasn’t just a witness. I was the other driver. It was me who hit Paige and her boyfriend” Hallie confessed with a scared expression.
Chris shook his head confused. “Wait! It was your fault?”
Then he remembered how confused she had been when he first saw her. “How could I not have known that?”
“Because you were too busy saving those people’s lives”, Hallie exclaimed.
“Why do you bother telling me this?” Chris asked suspicious.
“I saw how you reacted. I saw that when anything would happen to that girl, your world would fall apart. Now she’s blaming you for something I did. I don’t wanna be the cause of a break-up” Hallie said emotional.
Chris looked at the sky. “Well, in that case I can reassure you, because we’re not a couple, so technically we can’t break up”
Hallie pulled a sad face. “That’s so sad. I wish I could help”
“You could help by moving your ass, so I can get inside”
Hallie turned around and saw Paige in a wheelchair, pushed forward by Leo and accompanied by Piper. She quickly made a step side wards to let the trio pass.
“I think you should go” Chris softly said.
Hallie gazed into the house and looked for Paige. When she saw she was looking in their direction, Hallie quickly pulled Chris to her and kissed him.
Paige’s mouth opened a bit and if eyes could kill, Hallie would be dead by now. She let Chris go and he looked at her, shocked.
“Why did you do that?” Chris asked angry.
“I was helping you” Hallie said obvious.
“Really? Well, I don’t exactly feel helped” Chris said, still being shocked.
“You’ll thank me one day” Hallie said with a wink and she turned around and walked away.
Chris got back inside and went to the sitting-room where Paige has put her leg on the table. “How is your leg?” he carefully informed.
Paige shot him a sarcastic glance. “It’s broken, what do you think?”
“Paige, remember what I said, we’re not making any scenes” Piper warningly said.
“I just gave the dude a straight answer” Paige said.
“Don’t call me dude, okay? Why am I being so nice to you? You don’t like me? Fine, I don’t like you either. As far as I’m concerned, you can go to hell. I’ll be in my room, calling with my girlfriend” Chris said really pissed-off. He was so fed up with Paige’s hostility. Didn’t he save her life like twice?
He walked away and left the three patched.
Paige swallowed. “He-he didn’t mean that, did he? I mean, he doesn’t really have a girlfriend, does he?”
Piper shrugged. “I have no idea, Paige, but I do know that if you keep going on like this, you’ll lose him”
