It was Thursday. 2 days before the dance. Wally had lasted 2 days of recess with Falken. Everything seemed to turn out OK. Kuki sat next to Wally during Thursday's lunch. He decided to talk to her.
"Eh, um, Kuki?" Wally asked. Kuki took a bite of her sandwich, chewed it, and swallowed.
"Yeah, Wally?" Kuki asked. Wally gulped.
"Um, about Falken," Wally began. "I don't really like the guy as much as you." Kuki smiled.
"You don't have to!" Kuki said. "As long as we're still friends!"
"Friends..." Wally said. "Yeah..."

Outside Kuki and Falken were having fun on the Jungle Gym. Kuki would go down the slide, and Falken would be at the bottom ready to scare her. They would race each other on the monkey bars, and they'd play tag. Wally just sat at the bench thinking up something.
"Whoa!"
Wally looked around. It was David. He had tripped over his own foot. Kacey and Christian caught him in time. Wally decided to hang out with them.
"Hey guys." Wally said gloomily.
"You OK?" David asked.
"Kinda, I've been avoiding Falken and Kuki for the past few days." Wally replied.
"How?" Christian said.
"Sitting on that bench." Wally pointed to the bench he was sitting at. Kacey felt bad for him.
"Why couldn't you just hang out with Hoagie?" She asked.
"He's too busy with his new nerd club." Wally said. David and Christian laughed. Then, Wally thought of something.
"Be right back." He said. Wally ran up to the playground. He climbed up top onto the slide. Then, when he saw Kuki come down the slide, he jumped.
...........................................................................................................................
"OW!"
Wally looked down. He hadn't aimed on who to land on. He had landed on Kuki.
Oops.
"What the H-E Double Hockey Sticks, Wally?" Kuki hollered. Wally stepped off.
"What did you just do to Kuki?" Falken asked. He reached up for Wally's red shirt collar and lifted him up.
"Nothing." Wally said.
"What do you mean noth-" Falken couldn't finish cuz Wally had kicked him in the groin. Falken dropped Wally and reached down. Wally grabbed Kuki's hand and ran off.
Or at least tried to.
"C'mon, Kuki!" Wally yelled. "We gotta get away!" Kuki stood there. Her iron grip on Wally's hand.
"No." Kuki said.
"Why not?" Wally asked.
"You kicked Falken." Kuki said. Wally sighed.
"Kuki, I'm one of your best friends. You're just gonna let me get pounded and not stick up for me?" Wally asked.
Kuki didn't move nor say a word.
"Fine!" Wally yelled.
"Well, you're the one who jumped on me!" Kuki screamed. A crowd of 5th and 6th graders formed around them.
"I was aiming for him!" Wally said. He pointed to Falken who was still in pain.
"Why'd you wanna hurt him?" Kuki asked. "Because you're jealous?"
Nobody. Not one kid moved. Kuki crossed her arms waiting for an answer. Wally just stood there. Kacey, David, and Christian came over. Kacey sighed.
"I- I'm not jealous!" Wally blurted. "I'm weird!" Kacey facepalmed. She went through the crowd.
"This isn't going well." She said. Kacey grabbed Wally's arms and pulled him. "Hey, Wally. Let's go check out that thing we found." David and Christian followed.
"Now she hates me." Wally said when they reached the bench.
"Hey, you told her you're weird. That blew my chances with any girl last year." David said. Everyone gave him the look.
Falken came over. He pounded his fists together.
"FALKEN!" Kacey called. "WE CAN'T RESULT TO THAT!" Falken kept walking.
Kacey stepped out of the way. "Fine, he deserves it." Wally gasped and began running. Then, the bell rang.
"You're lucky!" Falken said walking toward the Music room. "Tomorrow you're dead." Wally gulped as Kacey, David, and Christian followed Falken. Kuki shrugged and went on the swings. Wally sighed. He went back to the bench and laid his head down.
WORST. PLAN. EVER.

After school at the tree house they were playing Halo again. THIS TIME Kacey joined in on the fun. Wally was too depressed to do anything. He decided to go upstairs and apologize to Kuki.
"Hey, Kuki?" Wally asked knocking on the side of her curtain.
"Come in!" Kuki said in a cheerful voice. Wally just shrugged and went in.
"Uh, Kuki, I'm sorry about today. Maybe I am jealous. I don't know. Christian said that hormones are changing and-" Wally was cut off.
"It's OK!" Kuki called. Wally was now REALLY confused. He just thought for a minute. Then, it came to him.
"Well, if you're not mad at me anymore, I was wondering, you would go to the dance with me?" Wally asked. He smiled one of his sheepish smiles. But Kuki wasn't smiling anymore.
"I'm sorry, Wally." Kuki said. "But Falken already asked me. Yesterday! And I said yes or course!" Wally's eyes went huge.
"W- w- what!?" He yelled. He growled. "What a friend you are!" Wally chucked a Rainbow Monkey across the room. Kuki gasped and watched as he stormed off. Tears filled her eyes and she got angry too. She just jumped on her bed and sat there.
Wally was having a WAY worse time. He tried to rip up the RM Kuki had given him. No use. Those people make REALLY good stitching. He just sat on his bed and sighed. Skipping dinner, he went right to bed.
"Eh, um, Kuki?" Wally asked. Kuki took a bite of her sandwich, chewed it, and swallowed.
