Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has dismissed reports he'll be Scott Weiland's permanent replacement in rock supergroup Velvet Revolver, insisting the role was not meant to be.
The rocker auditioned for the role in Slash and Duff MCKagan's band, but he has nailed shut any suggestion he's the man for the job in a new interview with BackstageAxxess.com.
Asked if he's still in the mix for the vacant frontman role, Taylor replies, "It wasn't on the cards, and that's cool. I made some great friends... It was just cool to kind of get together with them and jam, man. But it's all good."
But Taylor has teamed up with MCKagan in his band Loaded - and the bassist has nothing but respect for the Slipknot leader: "We recorded a bunch of songs with Corey. I think he's f**king great. Whether he's in Velvet Revolver or not... I think he's the best voice of a new generation. The best rocking voice out there. He's got a lot of positive energy. I'd be proud to do anything with him."
Velvet Revolver has been on hiatus since Weiland was fired from the group two years ago
