Voices echoed in Spencer's head. His mother and girlfriend were in this "world". He could see them in ghostly forms and hear them talking about his past drug addiction. "I'm so sorry. I wish I could have gotten help sooner." Spencer's own ghostly form pleaded. "You knew it was bad for you!" Maeve's form shouted in anger. "Why? Why did you do that to yourself?" Mrs.Reid's form pleaded. "I didn't know what I got myself into. I'm sorry, sorry, sorry!" Spencer's form pleaded again. Mrs.Reid and Maeve started talking down on him very meanly and...Spencer awoke with a start.
*Just one of those nightmares again.* he thought as he stopped breathing heavily and wiped the sweat off his face. The "real" Spencer lied back down thinking about why he kept having these kind of nightmares. He heard Derek snoring, and that was the only thing breaking the silence in the room. The BAU team had been on another mission. Spencer took a sip of his water before getting back to sleep. Thankfully, when he was asleep again, he didn't have any more of those nightmares!
The next morning, Spencer woke up afew minutes before the alarm was to go off. The first thing he heard was the same low snoring coming from Derek. He lied there for the time being thinking about if he needed to see a sleep therapist to talk about his horrid nightmares. The few minutes had flown by and Derek awoke with a wince as he and Spencer heard the Justin Moore song "Backwoods" blare out. Spencer immediately hit the snooze button to stop the blaring. "I guess I forgot to turn it down..." Spencer said catching his breath. "The hell you did!" Derek replied groggy. "It's not my fault." Spencer muttered to himself.
On the way to the local police station, Derek could tell something was up with Spencer. "Did you have one of those dreams again?" he asked. "Yep." Spencer answered rubbing his tired face. "I don't know what to do!" he snapped. "You know you can tell me anything." Derek comforted as he put his hand in Spencer's shoulder. Spencer looked into his friend's trust-worthy eyes and told him about the nightmare.
"Have you thought about seeing somebody?" Derek asked concerned. "I have." Spencer answered. "That's good." Derek replied. "You were still sleeping when I started thinking about it again." Spencer joked. Derek smiled. The two got to the local police station and met up with their BAU colleagues.
