As a fan of Twilight, I am part of a lot of related spots and discussions. However, as a Jacob & Bella fan, I often find myself disagreeing with most of the opinions of Twilight fans. In this article I'll go through some comments I've read (slightly altered - don't want anyone out to get me!) and why I disagree with them. It's really just an informal rant. :P
'Edward & Bella have things in common unlike Jacob & Bella'
... What exactly? Let me guess: Classical music? Bella knows one song and suddenly they have something in common. They both read? When do we actually read of Bella reading except in the beginning of Twilight? Sorry but Bella is not a bookworm just because Stephenie Meyer says so. The only thing they seem to both enjoy is each other's mouths. However, Jacob and Bella actually did things. They fixed the bikes up, they helped each other with homework, they went to the cinema.
'Edward & Bella are physically and intellectually equal'
Physically equal? BRB LMAO. Not even gonna comment. Intellectually equal? Hardly. Edward is way smarter and he acts it, too. Bella is NOT extremely intellectual. The only reason that's thought is because she mentions once that she likes to read - and never does it! Bella is immature and childish.
'She'd never pick a grease monkey who's never read a book even if Edward wasn't there'.
Jacob is not some dumbass. Is it ever actually mentioned that he hasn't read a book? Pretty sure it's not. He can build up a car from scratch. That requires brains, hello! And you know, who cares that he's looked after his dad for years when he hasn't got a couple of medical degrees?
It's also hilarious that people say Bella would not choose Jacob if Edward wasn't around or whatever. They make a huge deal out of the fact she would have only ever picked Edward because she was in love with him, then say she wouldn't pick Jacob if Edward wasn't around even though she's in love with him. Oh sure, she's gonna pick some other guy over her best friend that she's in love with.
'Edward is unselfish... Jacob is selfish. Are Team Jacob reading the same books?'
Yeah, are we? Edward - unselfish? He dates a girl he knows full well he could kill any moment. If that's not selfish I don't know what is. And Jacob - selfish? Maybe we're not reading the same book because Jacob's reasons behind his actions are cearly stated, it's nothing to do with him being selfish. And people may not believe it, but Bella is in love with Jacob, it's canon. And yet people will deny that straight out, and THEY are asking if we're reading the same book?! I understand if people don't believe that, that's their right, but when you say 'these people don't understand the books blah blah', you're being hypocritical.
'Jacob made Bella cry on her wedding day - he doesn't care about her!'
He's trying to protect her! She's about to go and have sex which could easily kill her and that not even her husband really wants to do as Edward admits that Jacob is right. It's funny how when Edward 'protects' Bella from simply hanging out with Jacob, it's considered romantic. But when Jacob tried to stop her doing something life-threatening, he's a jerk.
'Jacob never loved Bella... He imprinted on her egg/ovaries.'
This is simply impossible. Jacob imprinted on Renesmee. Bella's ovaries would have only released the egg that would become Renesmee, and so Jacob could not have imprinted on them. Jacob's 'infatuation' with Bella shall we say, started in New Moon. If he had imprinted on one of Bella's eggs, that ovum would have passed during menstruation, not become Renesmee years later. If the logical answer doesn't satisfy you because it's so rarely used in the books, Stephenie says it is not the case link. Also, if Jacob's connection with Bella was all about Renesmee... Why didn't he have that connection with Edward? Edward created Renesmee too.
These are just a few opinions I have seen, I may add more later. :) I am by no means saying these are wrong and mine are right - we all have our own opinions! I'd love to know what you agree and disagree with!
