I opened the door to the Curtis brother's house, and decided to give Darry a surprise visit. I closed the door quietly behind me, and threw my leather jacket on the couch. I decided that I wanted to try to scare him, since he scared me a few nights ago when he jumped out from behind my bed. I walked quietly around the house, peeking my head into every room. As I walked through the empty house, I heard music coming from upstairs. I walked up the stairs quietly, which was hard since they creaked every step I took, and followed my way down the hallway to where the music was coming from. The music was coming from Darry's room, and the door was halfway shut. I pushed on the door a little to open it, and couldn't believe my eyes! Darry was dancing. I have never seen Darry dance before. I would've stuck up behind him and scared him, but this was priceless. I stood in the doorway of his room, leaned up against the door frame, and watched his every, hilarious move. He grabbed a sock, bundled it up, and began pretending that it was a microphone. The words, "Don't you want me baby" came out of his mouth, as he turned around and saw me. He quickly shut the music off, and stood there, embarrassed. His cheeks flushed to a bright red, and he was speechless. "How long have you been standing there?" He asked, his voice a bit shaky. "Long enough to know that you're a terrible dancer." I truthfully and jokingly said. Darry walked towards me. "You take that back." He said, trying his best to sound serious. I smirked. "Nah." Darry leaped towards me, and began chasing me, until we both landed on his bed. Darry landed on top of me, and told me that he wouldn't get off of me until I took what I said back. "It's not my fault that you're terrible at dancing." I squirmed around underneath Darry, trying my best to get free. "Woah! She said yes? I told ya she liked ya back! You can at least shut the door, Dar.! " Two-Bit shrieked from the doorway. Darry got up off of me, and sat up on the bed. Darry's face grew a bright shade of cherry red, and he made a 'shut up' face to Two-Bit. "I'll give ya two some privacy." Two-Bit winked, and shut the door.
I sat up, and noticed that Darry felt really uncomfortable. "What was that all about?" I asked as I set my hand on Darry's shoulder. Darry turned around to face me. "Nothin'" He said quietly. "Oh, c'mon Darry. You can tell me!" I said, assuring him. "Well, ya see... I kinda like you. More than a friend." Darry admitted. "Really?" Darry nodded. "Well, I kinda like you too." I said and smiled. Darry looked at me, and smiled too. "How 'bout I take you on a date?" "How 'bout after I teach you how to dance!" I said and winked. I walked over the radio, and turned it on. I grabbed Darry's hand and we spent most of the night dancing. Well, we spent most of the night trying to dance.

“You alright, babe?” He asks. You were lying on your stomach on top of him.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” You say.
He strokes his hair. “You know, this could be us every night.”
“Yeah but we’d have kids, so it would be weird and awkward to do this every night. What if they had bad dreams or something?” You say.
“Ok, well then every other night.” He grins.
“That might work.” You laugh.
“By the looks of it, we’ll have lots of little kids on our hands.” He winks.

“I’m pregnant.” You blurt out.
Darry looks at you in complete shock. “What?”
“I’m pregnant, and I think we should put the baby up for adoption.” You say in rushed words.
He just gives you a funny look.
“Money’s tight…” You continue. “It wouldn’t be fair to bring up a child like this… And I don’t know if you even want it… I’d think it’d be best for him or her.”
“What’s best for our baby is living with it’s parents who will work hard to make a good life for them.” He smiles at you.

“Hey, Darry, please stop picking on him. He’s obviously stressed out.” You plead with you boyfriend. He and Ponyboy were fighting about grades and school and such.
“(Y/N), please stay out of this.” Darry says, eyes still locked on his younger brother.
“She has a point.” Ponyboy snorts.
“Don’t use that tone with me, young man.” Darry says, voice raised.
“Who went and made you dad?” Ponyboy asked, shrugging his shoulders.
“You take that back.” Darry says, lunging for Ponyboy.
They start beating up on each other, nothing serious. Brothers will be brothers.
“Hey! Knock it off!” You say, trying to separate them on the ground.
Smack!
You fall back, the hit getting you hard.
The boys freeze, realizing they’ve hit you.
“Ow!” You say. “That was my boob!”
They burst out laughing.

“Daddy, look what I found.”
“Olivia….” I start. The box of kittens was not something I wanted in this house.
“I found them down the street, daddy. This is one is Muffins, this one is Daisy.. And that’s Peaches.” She smiles up at me.
“Olivia… Do we really need these?”
“Daddy… They need a home.”
“We can find them one.”
“But they’ll love it here!” She says pouting. “I’ll feed them, I’ll play with them, I’ll take them on walks, and I’ll have tea parties with them.”
“Cats don’t go on walks… And I don’t think they drink tea.”
“Please daddy.”
I hate it when she does this.
“Go talk to your mom.” I sigh

“Merry Christmas, babe.” You feel Darry’s strong arms wrapping around you.
“Hmmm… Merry Christmas.” You mumble.
“I got all of Danny’s presents under the tree.” He says, snuggling down into the bed a little more.
“Did you remember the football?” You ask.
“Yeah, I remembered that. It’s the best gift.” He smiles. “He’ll love it.”
“Yeah…” You mumble.
“Before you fall back asleep, I have a present for you.” He whispers to you.
“Mhmm?”
He leans over you, showing you a black box.
You open it, to see the most beautiful necklace.
“It was my mom’s.” he mutters. “I thought you’d like it.”
“I love it.”

"Thanks for walking me home Darry.?" He looked at you with his sparkling eyes. "No problem y/n" he said to you. You met Darry when you had to got to Ponyboy's for a progect. He came and answered the door when you knocked. You've had a crush in him ever since. You were were in front of your house. "Um...y/n would ya...uhhh...maybe...wanna...go out sometime?" He asked you. On the inside you were screaming but you had to stay cool. Answer smoothly. "Yeah it be fun Darry." You answered. Before you left him you pecked him on the cheek and ran inside. Then looked thorough the curtains without Darry seeing you. And Darry stood there with a dumb look on his face holding his cheek. You thought to yourself a life with Darry. It was perfect. A life with Darry is the life you want.
Swaying back and forth to the random songs on the radio, champagne bottle in one hand, heels off, his shirt off; this slow dance was a little interesting.
You had gotten tired of the New Years Party you were at, so you decided to have your own; complete with balloons, champagne, dancing, and the life of the party.
“This is fun,” you laugh as you look up to him.
“Yeah,” he laughs, as he dips you.
“Careful of the champagne, babe.”
“Sorry… Just trying to make things classy.” He laughs.
“You kidding me? This is some high class shit!” You laugh.
He glances at the clock.
“It’s 11:59,” he grins.
“Time for our New Year’s kiss,” you grin as you lean in.
“Not yet!” He yells, moving your face away. “It isn’t midnight yet!”
You laugh, then glance at the clock.
“Well, we missed it.” You pout. “It’s 12:01.”
“Looks like we have to wait a whole nother year.”

Darry’s P.O.V
“Daddy?” Danny asks from the back seat. He was six now, and Olivia was one.
“What happened to your mommy and daddy?” He asks.
I don’t answer for a minute, just keep driving. What do I say?
“My mommy and daddy are hanging out in heaven.” Is all I can think of to say.
“They’re partying with Jesus?” Danny asks. “That’s cool!”
“Yeah, bud,” I smile. “Partying with Jesus.”

You sighed.
How were you going to tell him you got laid off?
Y’all needed money… You had just bought a house, and money was short.
So of course you had to lose your job.
You walking into your house, and flop onto the couch. You were pretty much done with all the stress.
Darry walked out of the bathroom, towel around his waist.
“What’s up babe?” He said, chuckling at the sight of you sprawled on the couch.
“I got laid off.” You mumble.
He’s silent for a second, taking this in. “I’ll pick up another shift.” He says.
“No, no.. You don’t have to…” You start.
“No.. I’d make more money than you would. It’s gonna be fine I promise.”

You put your head in your hands and breathe deeply. How where you going to tell him? You had gotten the phone call today.
You were actually close to Soda. Danny played with Grace and Logan all the time. You couldn’t even begin to imagine how they felt.
You hear the front door open. Darry was home now. You take another deep breath, and sit at the kitchen table.
Just breathe.
He walks into the kitchen. “Hey babe, what’s wrong?” He asks, setting down his wallet and keys.
You swallow. “I got a call.” Is all you manage to say.
“About?” He asks, eyebrows raised.
“Soda’s dead.” You blurt out.
The look on Darry’s face would haunt your memory for the rest of your life.
He just sat down on the floor in pure shock, mouth open, eyes wide.

“Darry, how do you feel about kids?” You ask.
“About having kids?” He asked. You were nervous.
“Yeah.”
“I’ve never told anyone this really… But it’s been my goal in life to be a better father figure than I ever was to Soda or Ponyboy… I thought I did a good job, but I know I could’ve done better.” He scratches his neck. “So yeah I’d want to have kids.”
“Well that’s good.” You smile.
“Why?” He asks. “You aren’t…” He starts, but then looks at you. “You are aren’t you?” His smile lights up the whole room.
You nod your head. He picks you up in a big bear hug.

“I think-“
“No I heard what you said.”

“Hey, do y’all want to go play football?” Darry asked the gang.
Everyone’s saying yeah, but you say, “No.”
“Why not?” Ponyboy asked.
“Darry think’s I’m awful at football, so I’m not going to play.” You say in a joking tone.
“Well she does,” Darry smiles.
“It really hurts,” you sniffle.
“Well fine, I’ll stay back with you.” He says, plopping on the couch next to you.
“You know, it really hurt my feelings.”
“I said I was sorry.”
“But it still hurts.”
“Well fine, let me make it up to you.”
He leans over and kisses you.
