You should think more than twice.
"You're gonna get into the fight, too?" she asked, her mouth again looking like a crater.
"That's because your boyfriend can't stand the truth! Be happy that I didn't start kicking you in order to distract the others' attention!"
At this, Misa squeaked again and stepped backwards, trying to escape from my vicinity. But I turned, hearing L's voice again:
"Once is once. I'll have you know that I'm quite strong."
L resisted the force from Light's second punch and did not 'take off'. Instead, he kicked Light in the same manner as before. After several more kicks from both sides, Misa tried to go in some corner and stay there, praying that this would be over, but I grabbed her arm, still thinking of holding her as a hostage. When I was ready to shout to turn all the attention to Misa and myself, the phone rang. L broke free from Light's grasp as he also let go of Light and answered the phone:
"Yes?" After about a second, he continued: "What happened?" Another longer pause. "Yes... I see..." L listened for another three seconds before hanging up the phone.
"What was it?" asked Light, finally calm again.
"Nothing, just Matsuda being an idiot again."
"Well, Matsuda is a little slow," said Light.
And the two stopped fighting after this. Somehow. They just ceased to kick or punch each other. And after two long months in which we did practically nothing, Light managed to repay himself in my eyes. A bit.
Light Yagami managed to find out a way in which the recent killings of Kira affected the world around us. He found out that the Yotsuba Group had a great benefit off these killings. And now we finally had something to go on. After this, L got straight to work. We didn nothing other than investigate the Yotsuba Group.
But there had to be some negative events on the background. The police was growing more and more cowardly towards Kira. The detectives were requested to either quit investigating with L or quit their jobs. L used this opportunity to get rid of the less determined or the less committed, and after the second of October, our investigation team did not include Aizawa anymore. It instead contained two other new members, which I personally found more interesting.
On the seventh of October, Aiber, a conman (or con artist, as he introduced himself) and Wedy, a thief (which to this very day seems to me to be more of a spy-to-hire) joined our investigation team. The policemen, obviously found this (a bit) too much, but, like I said, I believed them to be much more interesting and effective than we ourselves would ever hope to be in this domain. We had to face it, there was no way we could catch Kira only with justice on our side.

Today, L was supposed to reveal the plan he had for which he needed Aiber and Wedy in the first place. I was sitting in the circle of people, although I was sure that I wasn't going to play an important part in this plan.
"In order to not be detected first Aiber and Wedy will..."
"Ryuzaki..." said Watari's voice through the computer behind L. Oh, really, right at this time he had to interrupt us...
"What is it, Watari?" L asked, and I felt almost like I could smell a bit of annoyance in his tone as well.
"Matsuda-san is sending a distress signal from his buckle..."
"...From where...?"
"It seems to be coming from the Youtsuba Tokyo office..."
"What is Matsuda doing?!" shouted Soichiro, startling me. "If he is uncovered..."
"If he's sending a distress signal, then there's a chance he already has been..." started Light.
"Then he'll probably be killed," said Aiber.
"Forget everything I just said..." instructed L, obviously irritated but not surprised by Matsuda's timing. "We'll need to rethink our plan... Stupid Matsuda..."
It didn't take L that long, though. With a phone call (in which L acted surprisingly well) he managed to find out what kind of situation Matsuda managed to get himself into. After this, L told us his plan. I hated this plan. I can't say how much of a repulsion I felt upon hearing the plan.
They had me get dressed in the 'uniform' and I waited with other girls in Amane's room. Soon, the Yotsuba men were there... When they saw how all of us were dressed - mini-skirts and sleeveless tops with a downright stupid shape cut a bit below the collarbone - they didn't seem as annoyed or suspicious. My role there was to speak with as many Yotsuba people as I could in order to get some idea of how they think, how they act, their personalities... trash like this which I couldn't care less about in those circumstances.
I only had the chance to speak with four of them, though: Hatori, Namikawa, Mido and Higuchi. I am quite good at conversations, so it was not that hard for me to have a nice conversation from which I could deduce their personalities. Hatori was the easiest. He was not very intelligent. Judging by the way he was speaking, all his life he got what he wanted without deserving it. He must know some high-ranked people to have gotten this high in the hierarchy. Mido was no big deal, either. He was nothing particularly special. I could see that he did not speak of his latest days of work at Yotsuba very warmly, but other than that he seemed to be very pleased with this company. Namikawa was harder: he did not let slip of too many small words which could let me find out more about him. He definitely was one of the smartest in that room.
Higuchi on the other hand... He was the last I spoke to. I made the mistake to sit next to him on the sofa after I got tired of trying to get something from Namikawa. He seemed to be pleased to see me sit there. I was almost fifteen now, and for the first time in my life I was unhappy that I looked older than my age. There were barely any differences between me and Misa. Higuchi obviously felt the same, so he quickly offered me a glass of wine, tried to engage a conversation with me to get to know me a bit, but I got to know him before he could accomplish what he wanted. He was a cheap man who wanted prestige and money, it was obvious, and I didn't even need to watch him for five whole minutes before talking to him to know that he didn't mind having a nice woman by his side.
But then, thank goodness, Matsuda came out of the bathroom and did his part of the show. He 'accidentally fell' off the balcony, finally ending my torture. I'll hate L forever for insisting me to do this. Anyway, we saved Matsuda. Oh, joy. I hope I'll never have to do this again.
After this, however, we were sure that Yotsuba had something to do with Kira. Aiber started acting as Eraldo Coil in order to get close to one of the eight and Wedy was working on infiltrating the Yotsuba main office so we can monitor their meetings.
Things moved much faster after this. By the end of the month, we had Namikawa on our side (sort of) and Amane (somehow) managed to record a confession from Higuchi, naturally without the latter's knowledge. I found it a bit strange how she managed to get Kira right from the first try, but knowing how Higuchi lacked intelligence, he himself might have let slip of a hint indiscreet enough and even Misa managed to understand it. And also, by the end of the month, we had Kira/Higuchi captured with L's brilliant plan and a bit of risk and help from Matsuda. It all went incredibly well.
