I need more proof before I believe there are extraterrestrial beings.

I think it's possible there's life out there. We haven't seen any proof that does or doesn't exist.

Not in the 'ahhh bigheaded aliens coming to invade the earth' way, but since the universe is so, so, so, so mindbogglingly big I can imagine life on another planet, even if it's the extraterrestial equivalent of bacteria or bugs.

It's more likely that ET life exists than that it doesn't.

I read that as 'it's more likely that ET exists' and I was like '...what.' :')

I'm a FIRM believer in having to see it to believe it.

The odds are actually SUPPORT that there is life out there. In fact, there is a 99% chance that there is life elsewhere in the universe. I won't go into the equations or ramble on about the vastness of space, but it is most likely true.

Intelligent life is another story. I still believe it's possible.

I do not believe that they have ever contacted us, nor do I believe that we will ever contact them. In fact, I wrote a soapbox on this:

I think it's probable.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I believe it's out there for certain, but...it's probable. And I doubt it will be little green men or anything, but yeah something is probably out there somewhere.

maybe not in the way that we traditionally thing of it, but yes. as Cinders said, the statistical argument is there.. all one needs for life to evolve is a star comparable in size to our Sun, a planet at a distance away from that star comparable to the distance of Earth from the Sun, and the right composition of gases in the atmosphere. considering that the universe contains uncountable billions of galaxies similar to our own, it would be crazy to assume there isn't life on other planets.

They think there is life on one of Jupiter's moons, in fact. Although I don't believe any life has come to Earth. Really? Aliens would waste s***loads of resources, spend hundreds, maybe thousands of years (it's impossible to go faster than light, laws of physics), get to Earth, and then probe a few rednecks?

Actually, breaking the lightspeed barrier isn't necessarily impossible, but this is another discussion, and opens up a whole other can of theoretical worms.

probably... but whether we come into contact with them is another story altogether!

I say no as in no stereotypical little green men (like the pic). I do think it is possible that there is other life similar to ours, such as bacteria. Generally, I do not think there is, but I'm open to the possibility.

It seems likely enough. As for intelligent life, still a good chance. Though we have to remember they may not be anything like us, so I doubt they'd be "intelligent" in the way that we think of it.

Well I don't believe that there are little green people out there with 6 eyes but I do believe that there is something out there. I believe in maybe like bacteria but like heaps of poeple said up there ^, intelligent life is another story.

Yeah, but I call bullshit on aliens building the pyramids and whatever the hell else television is telling people these days. Besides, the majority living creatures will more than likely be plant life and bacteria, just like it has been for the majority of Earth's existence.

I find it hard to believe that in all the universe, there is no other life.

I don't see why not - if calculations are correct, then there must be some billions and billions of planets out there... It seems somewhat hard to believe that we are the only planet with life to exist... So, yes, I think I do believe that 'aliens' exist, probably in some microscopic form, though. Probably a micro-organism.

It doesn't have to be little green men, even humanoid, or animal for extraterrestrial life to exist. Even the smallest bacteria found somewhere other than Earth counts as alien. Which we haven't found yet, but then again we haven't even been outside of our solar system yet.

Judging by the immense size of the universe and the immense number of planets and stars, with many of those planets said to be Earth like with water on its surface and warmth. I think it's simply impossible for life to not exist somewhere else.

@hetalianstella. I watched a documentary on Mars the other day and they finally managed to find evidence to suggest that micro-organisms at least existed on Mars and perhaps may still be there. It was quite interesting.

I do believe they exist, but I think it is highly improbable that they are anywhere near our sun.
I think they exist because our galaxy alone has about 200 billion stars and there are a lot more than 200 billion galaxies, and new exoplanets are being discovered every week (you can visit link and notice how the amount of confirmed ones keeps rising).
I think it's just ridiculous to think earth is the only planet with life on it.
Even if the odds of live forming on a planet are 1 in a trillion, there would still be billions of civilizations in our universe.
However the odds any of these civilizations will ever reach us are really small, considering the vast distances between stars (and the even bigger distances between galaxies). The minimum time to travel to the closest galaxy at the universe's top speed (light speed) would over 2.5 million years, so you would need a space ship with an ecosystem inside it to reach that far.
Who knows, if there really are billions of civilizations, some have probably already met, or already have such a space ship, or can create wormholes(if that's possible, by using strong gravitational fields) ...
