Some say that our bias decides who we watch and trust for our news. Others would say who we watch and trust for our news decides our bias. Either way, I've always been a Jon Stewart girl.

The reason I ask this was because of an link I read discussing the successor of Walter Cronkite as our nation's "most trusted" newscaster.

Time Magazine's link suggest that its readers believe Jon Stewart deserves the title. A link appearing in Time parodies this, depicting Stewart's stereotyped teenage audience as mistaking Cronkite for Stewart.

On the subject, I just want to leave you this quote from the article posted above:

"More than once, Stewart has defined The Daily Show as "fake news." That honesty in itself places him leaps and bounds ahead of such so-called serious-news hawkers as Bill O'Reilly, who sees himself as a truth-teller to the "folks." While Stewart spins the news for laughs, O'Reilly spins it for partiality. Stewart's spin reveals the emperor's nakedness; O'Reilly's dresses him the way he wants you to see him."

I definitely prefer Jon Stewart over Bill O'Reilly, but I wouldn't call Stewart a newscaster. He's a comedian; he doesn't report the news, he bases his satire off it. So I watch him for entertainment, but not as a news source.

Bill O'Reilly does report the news, he's just very bad at it because he's so biased.

So they're both equally biased (on opposite sides), but Stewart's type of job allows him to show his viewpoint--O'Reilly's job should not allow him to show his viewpoint.

(So in a nutshell, I wouldn't trust either of them. I don't trust most news these days because it's all biased, and I have to look at print news and multiple sources to get the actual story.)

I believe neither of them report the news-- that's the point of the pick, to give you two options of people who don't report the news. Both O'Reilly and Stewart interpret the news for you.

The difference is, O'Reilly claims to report the news while Stewart makes no such claims which, in my opinion, makes him more honest, kind of like the article says.

I'm not sure I would call Stewart a newscaster. He makes it clear that he hosts a comedy show. Not a news show. I wouldn't exactly call him Bias either. He makes fun of politicians from both the right and the left.
