While 18-year-old Demi Lovato deals with her mysterious rehab check-in, Disney has decided to temporarily write her character out of "Sonny With a Chance" and focus on other characters, instead of putting the show on hold.
In case you missed it, Lovato dropped out of a Jonas Brothers tour on November 1 for what her publicist called "emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time." Little was said about her condition, except that it was not drug- or alcohol-related.
There have been reports that the issue involves self-harm, and the untimely death of her ex-boyfriend, musician David Osborn, who drowned in a tubing accident in July, may have been a catalyst.
USA Today reports that "Sonny With a Chance" will start focusing on a spin-off element called "So Random!" while Lovato recovers.
A Disney spokeswoman issued a statement saying, "This allows [Lovato] the time she needs to get well, without distraction or pressure ... We extend our ongoing support to Demi and her family as she works to overcome personal issues."

Demi Lovato just announced two shows this fall that have us a little more ready to let go of summer. Demi tweeted the announcement today.
“MY FIRST TWO CONCERTS!!! I’ll be performing at The Hammerstein Ballroom on 9/17 and at Club Nokia on 9/23! Can’t wait to see you there!!!!:D”
The shows will probably be some of Demi’s earliest performances of her Unbroken tracks. The album drops Sept. 20.
Are YOU going to see Demi live?
Demi looks beautiful in this new shot from the September 2011 issue of ELLE.
Demi also opened up and had a heart-to-heart conversation with the mag, citing what really caused her to break last summer. “I was completely out of line all summer. Just the worst attitude—totally ungrateful.” Demi shared.
“When you punch someone [backup dancer Alex Welch on a flight] on a plane, enough is enough. Right after, I texted my mom and just said, ‘I’m sorry.’”
Demi added about the break up between her and tour mate Joe Jonas, “I wouldn’t credit my meltdown to a guy. There was so much other stuff in my life.”
At least Demi has learned from her mistakes.

You've got a face for a smile you know
A shame you waste it when you're breaking me slowly
But I've got a world of chances for you
I've got a world of chances for you
I've got a world of chances
Chances that you're burning through
I've got a paper and pen
I go to write you goodbye and that's when I know
I've got a world of chances for you
I've got a world of chances for you
I've got a world of chances
Chances that you're burning through
Oh, I'm going my own way
My faith has lost its strength again
And oh, it's been too hard to say
We've fallen off the edge again
We're at an end
We're at an end
Maybe you'll call me someday
Hear the operator say the number's no good and that
She had a world of chances for you
She had a world of chances for you
She had a world of chances
Chances you were burning through
Chances you were burning through
Chances you were burning through, ooo
You've got a face for a smile you know
