The final floor brings a close to Zexion's adventure, but the story has just begun. This goes out to Serenna.

Thirteenth floor: It was all coming to an end. The feeling of dread in Naminé's stomach steadily got worse with every passing minute. Larxene was pacing around impatiently while waiting for Zexion and his group to arrive. Larxene suddenly observed the Nobody's orb. In the main focus of the orb was the girl with silver hair, who had recently covered her face with the hood of her Nobody's cloak. "That girl…," Larxene muttered, "She looks so familiar." Naminé decided to keep her mouth shut for one more floor. It was all coming out anyway.

Thirteenth floor entrance hall: Zexion and Selene reached an empty landing, which confirmed that Serenna had already passed through. Looming over the two was the final door, already open, its mystic white light spilling over . "What a long, strange journey it has been," Selene muttered, "Not all of it was pleasant. At least I'll meet my mom again." Zexion nodded. He had no clever scheme, no plan, no plot that could have predicted any of this. All that was left was to finish the journey. Zexion and Selene went through the door.

Castle Oblivion: Serenna faced Xigbar, who was hired by someone, Serenna didn't know who, to hold her up. "You could defeat an old geezer, I imagine," Xigbar sneered, "But I'm not an old geezer. I'm from Organization XIII." Serenna merely gave a bull roar before charging.

Castle Oblivion, entrance: Zexion and Selene entered, and Selene immediately gave a shudder. Everything was pure white. The stairs, the flowers, the lamps, the vases, even the walls. It gave the whole room an unsettling glow. "Can we get out of here, and fast? This place gives me the creeps." Zexion smiled at her, and after defeating some heartless, they moved on.

The Basement levels: Most of the members of Organization XIII were in position, scattered among the basement levels. The only members not in position were Larxene, Zexion, and Xigbar. Why they were in the basement could not be said, not yet. But it was all part of Xenmas's insidious plan. He was currently waiting in the first basement level.

Thirteenth floor: When Selene entered the room, the door closed shut before Zexion could enter. Soon after this, Naminé came through the Dark Corridor. "You may remove your cloak and talk freely," Naminé said, "Larxene is not watching us." Selene did as she was told, and she faced Naminé. "I guess this means I'm vanishing for a while, right?" Naminé nodded at this assessment, but said, "Your sacrifice will not be in vain. And I will personally make sure you are born. Just make sure Serenna doesn't hurt Larxene." Selene noted this obvious fact, and Naminé vanished as the doors opened to let Zexion in.

Meanwhile: Larxene continued to study the silver-haired girl, trying to figure out why she seemed so familiar. "Larxene, Zexion and the girl have almost reached the room of the other girl and Xigbar." She ignored Naminé's obvious statement, and went on studying. Then, for a split second, the girl's hood came off, revealing her true face. Recognition was instantaneous, and Larxene breathed out a single word: "Selene."

«I've been found out.» Selene thought as she entered a room with Zexion. «I just let my hood slip for a second but that's all it took. Oh well.» She focused to find Zexion and and Serenna in fierce combat against Xigbar. They were putting up a decent fight but losing, since Zexion's power was almost gone and Serenna was a human. «Oh, what the hell. My cover is already blown.» Selene stepped forward and removed her hood, exposing her true face for the first time. Xigbar skidded to a halt. "Well, what do you know," Xigbar growled, "Now what do I call you?" "Whatever you please," Selene responded coolly. Xigbar stepped backwards a few paces. "I took up all the time I needed. My work here is done," he said as vanished.

En route: The last stretch of the Castle Oblivion was empty, which meant that Larxene wanted them to make it to her. So it was that in no time at all that the reached the final door. They all hesitated, something needed to be settled. Serenna turned to Zexion nervously. "About what happened in Twilight Town…" Zexion didn't even let her finish the sentence, but kissed her full on the lips. "About damn time." Selene drawled in a Larxenish tone. Zexion shrugged unpologitically as Serenna stood there, dazed. He turned to the final door. "Are we ready, girls?" Selene and Serenna nodded, and together the group entered.

Thirteenth floor, Larxene's room: Larxene was alone as the group entered the place she had been hiding the whole time. "Are the babies here to complain about the bitter truth?" she cooed. Selene stepped forward. "No, we're here to clue you in on the truth…mom." Mother and daughter faced each other for a few tenses moments, then embraced. "I knew you were still in there, mom. I knew it." Larxene gave her only child a friendly rap on the head. "Where else would I be, little one?" she frowned. "Why are you here, anyway?" Selene rolled her eyes in exasperation. "Brinax was a sore loser. My group and I defeated him, but he managed to take me with him. I lost my heart to the heartless swarm he sent, but my heart became what you see in front of you. Luxord sent me to this time after that. Where's dad?" Larxene's face became angry for a moment. "I still haven't forgiven him for deceiving me. He's still in Twlight Town. I was going to pay him a personal visit after I was done tormenting Zexion, but Xenmas has taken control of the situation, and he wants Jason to be thrown in the basement levels." Naminé appeared out of nowhere. "Which is where I come in." she said softly.

When Naminé was done going over with the plan, Larxene gave her daughter a goodbye hug. "Bye everyone," Selene said, "And good luck. I'm glad I got to meet you all." She said, then dissolved into a heart and vanished. As Naminé grouped her power, Serenna turned to Zexion, loooking worried. "Are you sure this is the only way ?" she asked. Zexion nodded. "Trust me, and know that I love you." Serenna grasped Zexion's hand. "I love you too." Larxene rolled her eyes. "Oh puke, get a room, you two." This was the last word spoken before Naminé blasted her power, wiping everyone's memory.

A few hours later, first floor: "Well done, Larxene." Xenmas said in a deep voice as he observed Zexion and Serenna, bound and gagged in a corner of the room. "Now all that's left is for you to retrieve Jason."

This ends the first half of Chains of Affection. Keep your eyes peeled for the second half, starring Jason! Goodnight!
