Hero's Fall
[Bolt's Point of View]
Bruce was standing right next to a terrified Maria. He was three times my size, so he's going to be difficult to persuade. The scars also indicate that he's going to be tough. Cobra finally spoke, "How did you get here? We left you across the country!"
Bruce replied, "I threatened it out of one of Maria's friends. It pays to be the bad boy."
I growled, "Well this is where your reign of terror ends. I have no intentions of backing down when I defend my friends and my home."
"You? Don't make me laugh."
"Do you know who I am?"
"Yes, you are Bolt the super dog, or at least a super dog on TV. You won't last long with me."
"We shall see…"
Mittens nearly yelled, "Bolt, are you crazy?"
Cobra added, "I faced him before, you don't stand a chance."
"I thought you looked familiar," Bruce said, "Rattlesnake was it?"
"COBRA!"
"Whatever."
"Cobra, get everyone out of here now! I'll give Bruce something to fight."
"WHAT?"
Without any further word, I ran toward Bruce. Bruce tried to swat me with his grizzly-sized claws, but I managed to dodge them. I locked my jaws onto his right foreleg, but he hardly felt it as he swatted me with his other set of claws. I looked over and saw that everyone else left. I was about to hightail it out of there when Bruce suddenly pinned me, fracturing my left hind leg in the process! I let out a painful scream. Bruce whispered in my ear, I am going to enjoy every moment of this. He pushed down on my side until five of my ribs broke with a loud, painful CRUNCH! A few tears managed to escape my eyes, but I still need to keep Bruce away from others. "Do you give up?"
"No," I answered.
"Suit yourself." Bruce said. He was about to deliver the finishing blow when a rock hit Bruce in the head. I looked over to see that it was Ryan who threw those rocks.
"GO ON," Ryan yells to Bruce, "GET OUT OF HERE!" Once Bruce fled, he and Maria dashed over to me. "Bolt, are you okay? Say something." I let out a pitiful whimper. ""At least we know you're alive. If Maria didn't lead me to you when she did, things might have turned out differently."
I turned my eyes toward Maria to see tears in her eyes. She said in a small whimper, "I'm so sorry."
I whimpered back, "It's not your fault."
Ryan delicately picked me and quickly took me to his house.
